"all things stereo" :-) In some odd way, I thought you'd enjoy this vintage piece

On the scrap metal pile at my favorite local vintage audio emporium :-) a couple of weeks ago. It's been de-toxing in the garage since then. Today - a rainy day in MA ('til a little while ago) - was a good day to try it out.
I just couldn't resist it when I saw it in the muck and mire of the scrap metal pile. It's in poor condition - but it actually works OK. Controls are scratchy (imagine that?!). The tape deck doesn't seem to work... but the radio's fine. It has two SW bands along with the usual AM and FM. I don't know if it is obvious from the photo, but it's the size of an attache case (or, for younger readers, it's the size of a laptop bag).
What a piece of... umm... history... :-P
best of all, it had a very nice quality Maxell 110-min metal (i.e., Type IV) cassette in it. I am actually listening to it as I type this (on another cassette deck, of course). 1950s doo-wop/pop standards kind of stuff. Odd fodder for a boom box.

Nice score.......I immediately flash-backed to Radio Raheem in "Do the Right Thing"(lol). -

WOW!! I just looked at a couple of boom boxs on eBay, 16 bids on a JVC at a little over $1600?? Guess one should take a better look at them when you pass by a garage sale or thrift store..

I saw on GMA, I think, that they are coming back in a big way. Keep your eyes peeled! -

Just don't tell me this Maggotobx is worth that kind of money, 'K? ;-)
I think the big-money boomboxes were featured in specific videos (judging by my extremely random sampling of eBAY auctions thereof in the past). -
I had one of the Sharp GF777's when I was little. That thing rocked the house with ungodly bad sound but it was loud. Wish I still had it. BTW, holy crap they are getting huge money for those things on the bay.

They don't make e'm like they used to...and honestly I think most of the new equivalents sound worse!Up
