let me just state I don't care if you make a little money, after all it is YOUR time and effort to bring this to us. The last person to get screwed on this shouldn't be you...

No way. I'm benefiting the most. Now I know all the other Tool fans on this forum and we can all discuss the results of The Holy Gift and whether vinyl ripping is worth it. That was my whole goal. -
Got it. Money's on its way. And thankyou!!!
-
Time, effort, materials, and paying for the rip, are they kidding?
Agreed!!! I just don't get some people.. -

I'm thrilled to have gotten in on this. I would gladly pay more as this is beyond a courtesy to the community.
I'm actually surprised how many people here love Tool. -
Tool has been and will always be one of my favorite bands.
Been listening to them forever and its even cooler when you read a Stereophile review and they talk about a song off of 10,000 days. Forgot which but it was interesting to see them using it as listening music nonetheless. -

They came through last year for a concert which they had not been through here in many many years. Everyone (7,000+) stood for the entire 2+ hour show. No regrets just awesome music. Danny is an idol to me for percussion. -
I hope the release a new album soon. I am chomping at the bit. This vinyl rip will help satisfy that thirst, but I need a new album bad. 10,000 Days was a fine album, but I really need something to blow my mind like Lateralus.

Just think of the unreleased material and demos we will never get our ears on...
-
Did anyone else vote for Romney today simply because he has good taste in music?
-
I was happy to throw in a couple bucks above asking price, as he's doing the work for me, and the end result is going to be ridiculously awesome.
In regards to timing and equipment, it's whatever works best for the masses Solid. I'm fine either way.
I've been a Tool fan since the first time I heard Undertow. I'll never forget the first time I heard that album; it had me at Intolerance and just dug in deeper from there. Been a huge fan ever since, and am also always chomping at the bit for a new album.
Loved Perfect Circle as well; and while I didn't like the first Puscifer album, I listened to the latest one recently and found it to be pretty good actually.
Anyway, thanks again Solid.2007 Club Polk Football Pool Champ

Hey Guys,
I have a question for you. I have three copies of Lateralus. One sounds like garbage with tons of background noise despite being bought new. The other two have an acceptable level of background noise, but still more than your regular black vinyl. It is my understanding that picture discs are generally not that great sonically because of the way they are made. So, Jerry tells me that he can get the Lateralus disc to still sound very good despite the background hiss. Nonetheless, I propose we do the following: Let's get Lateralus ripped according to the Holy Gift track order. Then, lets also get A Perfect Circle Mer De Noms ripped. This shouldn't change the total cost, but instead of two rips of the same album, you will get two rips of different albums. I recommend Mer De Norms for two reasons. First, it is in the same vein as Tool. Second, the disc plays flawlessly and without almost any pops on my table. I think it would be an excellent demonstration of well-pressed and ripped vinyl.

It just keeps getting better and better. I'm certainly not opposed.

No problem here.

No, but it will magically remove large objects from your lower ****, and it sounds like you should jump in before it's too late.

He did in a TOOL sorta way, you have to read between the lines... LOL!!
BTW What ever works is fine by me.. -
Works for me - Mer de Noms is my fav APC album anyways and seems to be recorded quite well, too.
Will the Holy Gift be one track or multiple, gapless tracks arranged in the Holy Gift order? Either way is fine, but if they are multiple tracks and we're getting the raw files, we basically have the original CD anyways since we can rearrange the tracks in the album order if we choose. Or am I missing something?

Just do It. If anyone complains later, we'll sort it out. I'll make sure your covered, and i'm sure i'm not alone.

Well, the albums are all mailed out. Jerry will handle it from here. He told me to expect the albums in late April. That I believe is what I sent in all the IMs to everyone. We are still on schedule. Thanks for the willingness to adapt as conditions change. I think this is going to be awesome.
-
Really looking forward to it Mike. Thanks again for doing this.
-
I really didn't mind what you did, Mike, I'm just in it for the fun. Actually, this seems to be a better deal, since we could conceivably slice and dice and rearrange the order of the Lateralus tracks any which way we want. Mer de Noms is an absolute killer album, IMO.
-
Mike, I'm fine with whatever. I would prefer to have seperate gapless tracks for the Tool, but anything is fine. However, I didn't get any PM?!?
-
I will make sure I loop you in on any new PMs if I haven't already. I haven't sent a PM for several weeks regarding this matter.

Guys,
I just received an email from Jerry of 10Audio which included the text pasted below:Hi Michael,
A change of plans. I am simply too busy these days. My company is about ready to double in size, meaning I need to hire someone to help. In the meantime, I am working every night and weekends, too, supporting computers (company #1) and selling cables (#2). I need to put your project on hold until I have the time to deliver the product in a reasonable amount of time.
I also received my FedEx shipment of LPs back unopened. I can't tell you all how disappointed I am to deliver this news to you all. I've searched the internet for other people who rip LPs for audiophile listening, but all I can find is media archiving companies.
I have a list of everyone who has sent me money. Please expect a refund later today to your respective paypal accounts. I believe one person sent me a letter with cash. Please expect a return letter with cash enclosed.
I'm embarrassed this project didn't come to fruition as I had planned. I'm bummed out.
All I can offer is this apology.
Mike -
Sorry to hear the news - I was really looking forward to it. Of course, there are no hard feelings here and I understand there's nothing you could have done. If Jerry gets back to you in the future and you decide to try this again, just let me know as I'll definitely be interested.
