Geoff's cabinet upgrade/isolation shelf

After taking comments and suggestions under advisement, I added a shelf for my bluray player.

I know there are some that don't like the placement of my sub, but so far, I'm pretty happy with the results.

I put Tron Legacy back in had to crank it to -18 with the sub at +5 to get the water to jiggle even a little bit (glass of water on top of rack next to center speaker, above the bluray player) during the grid scenes.

Normal listening volume is between -35 and -25 with the sub between -3 and +3. So with the volume set at -18 and the sub at +5, my bar was rattling at the back of the room, but the movement from the water on top of the rack was at a minimum, almost nonexistant. So at normal listening levels, there's no vibration, at least not to the naked eye. I'm very impressed with this sub.

So, here's the shots of the new shelf, note the little buffer pads at the joints.

And for your sub placement,as long as it sounds good to you is what matters.

    Hey Geo,

the columns that hold the blue ray tray..

    they are crooked.

You inspired me though. I bought and cut pieces for something like a rack. My entertainment center is too low for my A6 and the tweeters of the A7s are quite a bit higher. I want to lift the center a bit and put something under the rack, perhaps the HTPC..

I like the new baseboard under the front. Looks much better than the temporary solution.

Always been a fan of having the sub on the same plane as the main fronts. Much easier to integrate the sub into the system as it helps to alleviate phase issues.

Great Geoff! I'm sure it's way better this time, for your bluray player at least! If it sounds as good as before, I'm gonna say:

    Enjoy!
