No power on my PSW 111

Hey Guys,
When watching a movie this weekend I noticed there was no bass through my system. I made sure everything was hooked up properly and even tried other outlets and nothing seems to work, and I bought it less than a year ago. I know I should contact customer support, but I wanted to see if there was a quick fix.
From everything I have been reading it seems like I have to try changing my fuse, and I have 2 questions about it:
1. Is it easy to change to fuse?
2. What kind of fuse do I need?
Also, if any of you have also had this problem, was there something else you did that fixed it?
Thanks!

Hello JP,
Thanks for posting on the forum. There are two possible bass amplifiers used in the PSW111 and each one has a different fuse location. If you have the amp with an IEC type power cord the fuse will be located in the AC socket in a small drop down door built into the socket itself. If your amp has the "figure 8" style AC power cord the fuse will be on the inside of the sub. Just remove the screws going around the circumference of the amp plate, use a putty knife to loosen it up and pull the complete amp out of the cabinet. The fuse will be on the other side of the amp plate not too far from where the power cord goes through the amp plate. When you look at the fuse if it is heavily blackened or smoked inside then there is no need to replace the fuse there's a problem with the amp and it will need to be serviced/exchanged by Polk. If, on the other hand, the small wire inside the glass tube is just broken with no heavy blackening then a replacement fuse should get things back on track. I'm afraid I can't remember the fuse value, it is a metric sized fuse and a slow blow type.
I'm sorry you're having a problem, but Polk will help.

Thanks for the help Kenneth, I opened up my sub and found the fuse:
It looks like it has some blackening, but I figured I would post it on here just to confirm if I should just get a new fuse or to contact customer support.
Thanks! -
Hello,
It's a little hard for me to tell, but it looks like an amplifier related problem. I'm assuming you are a US resident. If so go ahead and pull the amp away from the woofer enclosure by disconnecting the red wire and black wire from the 8" woofer. Package the amp up and send it to: Polk Audio Factory Service, 1 Viper Way, Vista, CA. 92081. Include a short note and give them your name, address, a daytime telephone number and a copy of your sales receipt and they'll quickly send a replacement amp.
Regards, Ken -
I would not replace that fuse as the blackened color indicates a problem. Your best bet is to contact the service center in the post above and I am sure they will take care of you. Polk CS is great!polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves

Which is the newer the IEC type power cord or "figure 8" style AC power cord amp?

The more recent is the "figure 8" type.
