Just snagged an Adcom GFA-5503 off of eBay, so as soon as I see that sucker has shipped, I gotta order some interconnects. I'm looking at Bluejeanscable.com... but I'm not seeing exactly what I need since I'm running 3 channels. Would it be okay to just snag three of the BJC LC-1 Subwoofer Cables? Or can someone point me to what I need? Gonna shoot for 1.5ft lengths.

Probably overkill 'cause I'm gonna use it to run a pair of RTi70s and a CSi40 using an Onkyo TX-NR1007's pre-outs, but I figure that'll give me some nice breathing room for my 4 surrounds and heights to run off the 1007 (and make for better 2-channel listening). I've poked around here using search, but if anyone has any other advice, let me know.

(And yes, I'm aware that this may result in me upgrading speakers down the road. THE JOURNEY BEGINS!)
Equipment list:

    Congrats on the amp, man!

I like Signal Cable for good budget IC's. Frank will make you any length you need.

Either the Analog 1's or Analog 2's will be great:

I had the Signal Cable analog II's and they are amazing cables for the price. I went from old rca's laying around, to entry level Audioquest to Signal cable and it was a huge improvement.

Thanks for the suggestions. All of these seem to want to sell in pairs though, so I guess I'll end up with a spare (since I'm only doing 3 channels). Wait... looks like Signal Cable will sell a single. That may be my best option.

Hoping this Adcom sounds as good as it looks. I got it for $450 + shipping, it looks mint condition, and the guy who's selling it has had it in storage since he bought it in March 2004 because he didn't have room for it with his GFA-5802. He bought it used from a dealer and never took it out of the box (though he hooked it up to make sure it was working for the sale), so no telling how much use it got before then. From the two pics, I don't even see scratches where you'd think you would see them just from handling. Fingers crossed that I scored big time on this.

I would one stereo pair and one subwoofer cable since all of them are made with the same wire. Or call them and see what price they will give you for just 3 ICs.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna go with BJC, 'cause I realized that my speaker wires are some Radio Shack garbage I got years ago for my center and some Monster Cable on my mains ('cause a friend gave it to me and it worked at the time). Might as well get fresh terminated speaker cables while I'm getting ICs. No sense in half-assing this.

Now my next problem from looking behind my rig this morning... I'm out of outlets. Not sure what I'm doing about that yet. There's another outlet nearby, so I'm thinking for now, the solution may have to be a short length of extension cord. It'll be behind a cabinet and some speakers anyway... so no one will see it. Can't free up any outlets behind my gear because of the 1,000w amp pushing my sub and Buttkicker.

Related question: 12-gauge or 10-gauge for speaker wire? Runs to the mains will be about 6 feet (I'm ordering 6.5' just to give me a little breathing room, though I think 6' would make it) and 3 feet for the center, terminated with bananas on both ends. The price difference is minimal.

Baby steps, sir. I think $140 to get all my ICs and terminated cables is sufficient for now. Went ahead and ordered the 10-gauge BJC speaker wires with bananas and 2-foot BJC LC-1 interconnects. Want to get them here by this weekend in case the Adcom shows up by then.

Mass Effect 3... Prototype 2... Ghost Recon: Future Soldier... Max Payne 3. I'll be playing all of those. Playing Syndicate now, actually (and still playing Deus Ex: Human Revolution). But yeah, GR:FS is very high on my list. I think I kept GRAW2 longer than any game I've ever had, with the exception of Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 (which I still have and play).

But no, this is just one of those things I've wanted to do for a while and the stars aligned. I told myself I could wait until Tuesday when my cables arrive to to wire it all up... but who am I kidding? I'm gonna hook that thing up as soon as it hits the door, using my existing speaker cables and a short length of component video cable as temporary ICs. At least that'll let me fiddle with it and get it in place (and make sure the thing works), and I can swap out for the good cables pretty easily once they arrive.

10 AWG wire for a 6 foot run???? If anyone can justify this kind of wire in any kind of real application....I will send them 2 pieces of 555kcmil DLO cable 6 foot long (think welding cable) just to see if a cable that can safely handle around 650 amps, might increase sound quality by a fraction. I went w/ a Samson P-15 9 outlet plug surge center that more than handles all my gear. It has a big lighted rocker switch for the on position and a resetable curcuitbreaker if there is and over load. One of the outlets is out front for a convienence thing and the rear ones are oriented both verticle and horizontal to except x-formers.I do not use it as a condtioner but as a lttle protection during the summer lightening season.I believe it has about 5000 joules per set so there is some protection there not to mention the convienence of having all your gear plugged into one device that could be either rockered off or unplugged during a halashis storm.

Got the Adcom GFA-5503 in... and WOW. I'm talking this thing is in MINT condition. It looks brand new! Not a scratch on the thing, even where you would expect a scuff or two from handling. VERY impressed with the condition it is in.

My cables don't arrive until tomorrow, but I hooked it up with my existing speaker cables and some Monster component cables for ICs, did a quick level match with my SPL meter, then threw on Alison Krauss' Paper Airplane. OH... DEAR... GOD... I swear I have never heard sound like that come from my speakers. It sounded like I had surround engaged, but it was on Direct 2-channel! Absolutely stunning difference! Threw some SACDs and DVD-Audio discs at it, same noticeable improvement. Did a little more tweaking and watched Puss In Boots with the volume at a pretty decent level... and it sounded incredible.

Gonna wait to re-run Audyssey until after I have my new cables in place, but so far, that Adcom makes my speakers SPARKLE! I'm also getting a very obvious improvement in dialogue clarity from my CSi40. For now, I'm running the RTi70s at a 50Hz crossover and the CSi40 at 60Hz, and that seems to be working very well. Gonna do some more critical testing tomorrow after I get it all wired up for good. Bottom line though: WORTH EVERY PENNY. Can not believe I snagged this thing so cheap!
