Hello,
I have a PSW10/YAMAHA RX-V371 setup, hooked through Y Splitter cable from the sub then dub cable going into the sub hookup on the receiver.
Units are about 3 months old and has been working fantastic, I was getting a very sharp bass levels out of the sub.
All of the sudden the sound output on the sub has become LOW!!
When sub volume is on 0 no sound is coming out, when is on 100% its barely there, very distorted as well,
I have tried resetting the receiver to factory setting and made sure the fuse is not blown.
Still no luck!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Mel

Hello,
Sorry you're having a problem. One thing to try is remove the "Y" cable and connect the sub-cable to either the right or left input on the sub.
Regards, Ken -
Thank you for your help Ken
I disconnected my right speaker wire and connected it to to right sub input. I dont think it changes anything, low sound is still the same.
Thanks -
Hello,
In all likelihood there is either a problem with the bass amplifier or the 10" woofer. To narrow it down remove the grille cover and take out the scews holding the woofer onto the cabinet. Then pull the woofer out (you might need a putty knife to loosen it) and remover the red wire and black wire from the terminals. Then turn it upside down on your carpet and at a very low volume try playing the woofer directly powered by your receiver. Resist the temptation to increase the receiver's volume if there's no sound. There should be sound at a very moderate setting. If the woofer is okay then the problem is with the bass amplifier, if the woofer doesn't produce much sound then it is damaged. In either case, package up what isn't working and send it to: Polk Factory Service, 1 Viper Way, Vista, CA. 92081 including a note with your name, address, daytime telephone number and a copy of your sales receipt. Polk will quickly send a replacement.
Regards, Ken -
Well this is going to sound stupid.
I just removed the 10" woofer. Seems to be working good on direct power from the receiver.
So i hooped it back up to the amp, mount it back on, turned it on and................its working!!!!
Perhaps bad connection from amp to the woofer????
All good now!!! -
Hello,
It is entirely possible that a faulty amp/woofer connection was the cause. Those metal sleeves are called "Fastons" and sometimes loose connection. I'm glad your sub is now working!
Take care and enjoy, Ken -
