Bi-Wire...

For the price, Signal cable is a great place to start for those looking to wire up from the git go.
Cable makers all differ, with some having a more pronounce SQ to them than others. Thing is, you just have to try a few to see what floats your boat. Obviously your boats a floatin' so kick back, open a brew, and enjoy.HT SYSTEM-

A friend of mine has a cheap Sony receiver that he says he bi wires to his Polk RTI10s. He splits the one cable from each front channel, removes the speaker jumpers and bi wires that way. I don't hear any difference.
I bi wire by running my front channels to the bottom posts and the height channels to the top posts with the jumpers removed. Now, I hear a difference. The sound is more full and bassier without any need of a sub. -

The only thing that accomplishes is not sending your fronts a full signal. All your doing is sending what would be the front height channel, which is an ambient sound, to the highs on the speakers. Plus just sending the lower portion of a full signal to the lows on the speakers. Translated, your missing out.HT SYSTEM-

Some receivers let you reconfigure the channels for bi-amping/bi-wiring. Not sure about his, he never mentioned the model. -
I have the new Pioneer SC57 with the added height channels. I had an older VSX9140TXH that had 7 channels. I ran the front channels without biwiring to the lower posts with the jumpers still on. The overall sound was less bassy and the treble was a tad sharp and thin. With the SC57 I have the front channels going to the lower posts and the height channels going to the top posts of the speaker with jumper removed. The speakers are fed way better now, even in stereo. The height channels are matrixed into the fronts and does result in a higher sound stage but not that apparent. I thought of getting some actual height channel speakers but from what I have read its barely noticable.
I know you think I am getting ambient height channel info being fed to the fronts but thats only noticeable in movies. In stereo mode, I unhooked one top post and the treble was completely off while the other roared along in full stereo fashion. In essence, my fronts are being fed 4 independent channels, 2 fronts and 2 heights at once in stereo. There is quite the difference from what I had before. -
Forgot to mention my fronts are RTiA9s. They are tall enough at 50 inches to might as well have height channels built in.

So how in stereo mode, is the front height channels active then ? It also goes without saying that if you unhook the top post, nothing will come out of the top end of the speaker. Regardless, if you like it, cool....I just think your missing out on what that speaker can do.HT SYSTEM-

According to the manual, when the speaker is wired this way, the height channels are mixed in with the fronts and is referred to as 7.2 High Quality Surround. When in stereo. nothing comes out of the surrounds or center, just the fronts. Both height and front channels are active so I am clearly running these with 4 channels. Just to check, I put the jumpers back on and left the height channel wires off with only the front wires going to the bottom posts. The bass is noticably less and the overall "pump" these speakers were putting out is now less.

Gotcha....some use the rear surround channels for the biamp mode, just curious how pioneer was doing it.HT SYSTEM-
