Mac, have you ever used Linkwitz-Riley filters before? They sound so different than butterworth. I currently use 60Hz as my xover point using L-R. I like how the Bit software shows you the response of the different crossovers. Its not exactly the same but it appears that 60Hz L-R is similar to 50Hz Butterworth. While 50Hz for a Butterworth is -3db at 50Hz, it is -6db at 60Hz.

No, never tried the new fangled crossovers. Don't really know much about them. This H700 is the only thing I've used extensively over the years.

I knew it! Theres your problem right there. Turn that crossover off completely. Let them run full range on down. 40-63Hz is where the punch and energy is for the midbass and youve got it cut off. I knew that had to be it but I was thinking the crossover on the amp and didnt think to ask about the one on the head unit.

All right, so I changed the crossover a while back so they would be running full and it did help a bit. They still sounded empty and I spent a couple weeks obsessed with finding another solution. I had to turn the bass boost up on my head unit but that misdirected things as well. What fixed the problem was actually my Profile amp dying. I bought a Rockford Fosgate P400-4 and now my mm's sound great. A little experimentation with tweeter placement and I should be all set. Just wanted to update you guys. Turns out it was a mixture of user error and a poor amp. Thanks for all the help.

Hmmm, thats weird. I wonder what was wrong with that Profile amp. Wonder if it got fried or something and the high pass filter on it got stuck on. Anyways, glad you got it figured out and a good solid amp to boot.
