oh horror! It came broken! What do I do?
It scratchless, but the packaging styrofoam was all broken and there was something rattling while I was lifting it (damn UPS, i am gona install a camera as well. )
Upon inspection there is a tube all the way on the bottom for the bass extension or port or whatever that is. On the back side the tube is broken off the wall and fallen down. I can kinda put it back in, but don't know if that's OK. SHould I ship back? That would be a nightmare and expensive. Can I just fix this? There seem to be no electronics attached to that tube. Advice appreciated

I have found that tube based computers provide the best sound quality. ENIAC and MANIAC I offer a smooth, well defined and articulated sound unmatched by the current silicon based CPUs.

What is it and where did you get it?

I had a pair come that way and after inspection, I called Polk CS and told them I could fix them myself instead of shipping them out.
They gave me permission to give it a try. Glued and reseated tubes back into the ports. Everything is plastic and the fit is snug use about any glue that dries quickly because you don't want a lot of fumes in the cabinet. I think it takes a 9/64 allen to remove screws.
The black plastic port will pull out, pull it out and fix it, pop it back in. Check everything. -

A7. I already removed that cover on the back to take the picture. Yes, I can place it back with my hand, and it fits kind of snug. I am pretty sure glue will hold it well, but I want to make sure there is nothing else attached to that tube. If the tube is not attached to anything then gluing should be OK.
I can't pack all of this back and wait two weeks for everything to settle, and pay return shipping and all.
SHould I talk to a Polk rep as well? I bought through amazon from external vendor.
The towers were sealed, so I am sure that have not been opened before and returned.
The second A7 is flawless. Actually this one is flawless as well, no scratches, only that tube fallen off.I have found that tube based computers provide the best sound quality. I wouldn't be surprised if Polk didn't sell the baffle, although shouldn't be a hard fix, take pix!

There is not anything attached to the port tubes. This is an EASY fix. After repairing tubes outside the cabinet and letting glue dry. Put it back together, compare it to the good one. Check the good one and make sure it's as good as the one you just fixed.

put some glue and letting it dry now. Looks all alligned. Havent even heard them yet. Will do tomorrow, - i want the glue to be completely dry.
The cabinets looks absolutely beautiful. I have wood floor and they just make everything around so pretty. I got an open box A6 on the way too. Holding my fingers crossed. I hope it works well... that's a shame that they don't even care about what they carry.

Amazon is terrific about returns, especially when damage is concerned. See if they'll send a prepaid return label and ship a new speaker, it's what I'd do. (first)

UPS knew what they were shipping. The A7 is pictured in full size on the box. Some of these drivers are just haters with miserable lives. I don't even have a big house.. i don't see why anyone would do it intentionally..
Dude, packing this monster back would cost me a lot of sweat and time. Also, amazon did not ship or sell. It was a third party vendor who was selling on Amazon - IQ HOME ENTERTAINMENT. Got them for 400 a piece and free shipping, brand new. It was an OK deal for this time of the year..I have found that tube based computers provide the best sound quality. I think A'zon still backs their vendors deals and actions. But....if you're happy, that's really all that matters. Someday....when something LOTS worse happens, and it will, I hope you're more assertive with the vendor & shipper, to get what you paid for. (perfect, undamaged goods)

I hate it when vendors make it obvious what is inside. It is like putting a target on it. Even if it ships okay, others can check it out while it sits on your front porch until you come home.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

No Amazon is not responsible when you buy from a third party. I still would have insisted on a replacement or at a minimum a replacement part from Polk. I bet they will send you one if you email them the pics. -
More assertive... I have on a couple of occasions made customer service women cry, and you can confirm that with my gf, who doesn't want me to dispute anything any more. I am assertive alright, believe me..
What I am afraid is that Amazon will let me ship it back, and I have to put all of this back in a box and go ship it : ). Boy, that's the truth. I had a full set of bodywork for my race bike shipped to my house, and in broad daylight, with an elementary school across the street and all the kids getting out from school, this punk a** dude tried stealing my bodywork, the box was too big to fit in his tiny car and so he opened it and started shoving the plastic in, my neighbor came out and started yelling at the guy and jumped in and drove off with what he had. Out of an upper with mid, lower, front fender and tail section, this dude make off with the tail and the lower. Thieves need to be shot, hung, stabbed, choked and then tried.

Hey ! You left out raped and eaten ! -
You can blame the shipper, but perhaps a better glue or better gluing is in order. This isn't the first time. It should be solid enough to survive UPS... That should be the spec! That said, mine came from Crutchfield, and they offered to take it back and send a new one, and when I thought about that, I thanked them and declined the offer and fixed it myself. I agree that one shouldn't have to repair a brand new product, but in the end, it was really no big deal.

I agree with that to a degree, items should be packed to sustain "rigorous" transit. I also believe shippers should be a TON more responsible with their handling techniques. Some of it is beyond irresponsible, it's downright malicious, how'bout that idiot that threw the flat panel TV over the customers fence? That kind of representation invites a hefty lawsuit.
At least when I had my A9's shipped, Polk had then sent via private shipping company and the pair strapped to a pallet, this guy wasn't a monkey in a brown uniform, he was professional.Source: BRP Panasonic UB9000, CDP Emotiva ERC3 - Display: LG OLED EVO 83 C3 - Pre/Pro: Marantz 8802A - Amplification: Emotiva XPA-DR3, XPA-2 x 2, XPA-6, Speakers, Mains/2ch-Focal Kanta No2's, C-LSiM706, S-702F/X, RS-RTiA9's, WS-RTiA9's, FH-RTiA3's, Subs - Epik Empire x 2

UPS is private too. But due to suffocating government regulation there is not much of a competition in this business. USPS gets whatever they please to feed the ever hungry unions, and fedex and UPS live off the leftovers, and there are severe restrictions to entry.
But after all these comments I am inclined to think that Polk could have used better glue. This tube is not heavy and really should not fall off like that as often as it seems to do.I have found that tube based computers provide the best sound quality. Alright, boss, take it easy with the moral high ground. You agree with murdering a thief who's only sin is that he was born in a poor neighborhood and never got any education, but got forbid you give feedback to corporations that rip you off day in and day out. Have you heard that every society deserves its criminals?
For your information I got charges reversed after my girlfriend got nowhere after hours of being polite. I don't feel sorry for anyone working for a bad employer - you should have known what you are signing up for. You don't like angry customers - go to a better company or change jobs. It's a way to put pressure on the company itself.I have found that tube based computers provide the best sound quality. Besides, if you really want to get things accomplished and make the company aware of your problem you need to climb the chain, which is something I already mentioned. Not only are the customer service reps generally powerless, but the upper echelon don't care what happens unless a customer contacts them directly. I had an issue with Dell and was getting nowhere with the customer service reps. I climbed the chain and got a hold of executive customer relations. They had the power to do what was needed, and no one had to get abused in the process.Have you heard that every society deserves its criminals? You agree with murdering a thief who's only sin is that he was born in a poor neighborhood and never got any education

And, I'll state again, the only way you are going to make your voice heard in a company is to reach the upper management. All the yelling, complaints and abuse towards the innocent customer service reps will accomplish nothing. It will not reach upper management, and nothing will change. -
Dude, are you a service rep by any chance? It's nothing personal.. you know..
Anyway, i would love to get into this into more detail and show you the real principles behind all of this, and why you can't judge things on how you feel in every particular situation, but this is really not the right place for this. I have to agree with BeefJerky on this one. Treating CS rep like they are trash is not the right thing to do.
When you treat someone mean, it does not reflect on who they are, it reflects what you are. -

On that note, I think everyone should be required to work in a job position that directly deals with the public at some point in their lives. I believe that this kind of attitude would be less common if that was the case.Anyway, i would love to get into this into more detail and show you the real principles behind all of this, and why you can't judge things on how you feel in every particular situation, but this is really not the right place for this.
