I'm thinking about adding tubes to the food chain of my STS's, and was just wondering if anyone has this set-up, or has heard this set-up.
Right now they're straight off the SC-05, and still sound good, just wondering if I can get more?

What kind of tubes do you plan on adding, amp, pre, or CDP?

I assure you with a tube preamp and an amplifier added you could take those speakers to another dimension!
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Much like VR3 - I'd highly recommend powering these speakers with some good tube gear. Def. Tech's Sandy Gross (who was also one of the co-founders of Polk Audio) apparently runs an affordable Cayin A-50T with his STS towers in his personal system. You can read about it here: http://www.stereophile.com/floorloudspeakers/808dt/

When I had the Mythos STS towers for a month, I found that I listened to them almost exclusively on my 35 wpc tube amp from Vista Audio. 'Twas a good match.

    Why only a month?

Adding a tube pre section via an iNova was a wonderful mix. The efficiency of the mythos and nova was a perfect match for an affordable stereo setup.

Whoops, I should have clarified, these would be tube power amps, prolly Jolida. The SC-05 would be staying as the pre/ pro. Space and $$$ issues, are my restriction.
So, would there be any benefit?

Space is a concern? How much space do you have to work with? Tubes generate quite a bit of heat.

    It's about 13"h x 20"w x 18"d. The PA I'm looking at is the Jolida JD502P, and the dimensions are 7.5"h x 17"w x 15"d, which will give it about 6" of head room.
I've got an old 3" 110v fan I could mount in the cabinet, or is that being silly?

I've never heard them off Tubes but I have off of really good power like Bryston and Krell. They are a remarkable speakers and only get better as you add better gear.
I'd like to read your thoughts after you tried a tube amp. I'm happy with mine off the SC-07 , I have no desire to try and make them any better.

You're running the ST's and 3- 9's right? without external amps?

Provided that you do not intend on leaving the tube amp on for long periods of time, 6" should provide you with just enough clearance for safe operation. I'm not really too concerned about the amp's safety, so much as I am the shelf above the amp warping over time.

10-4, thanks. I'm probably going to have to update my ent. center to steel & glass, as opposed to the wood that it is now.
