I can't seem to browse the Netflix streaming just to see what they have to offer. We get their DVD's but I wanted to check out if the TV series "Justified" is available streaming....can anybody help? If it's there we may go streaming for awhile.

The local Blockbuster is what led me to switching to directv. Then the local blockbuster went belly up, and the corporation offered the internet rental for free for a few months. I stuck with netflix. At one point I was getting a rotation with netflix, but they stopped that, and one day went to three day turn arounds.

At first the streaming sucked, but then it got better. It's somewhat HD and is not blueray, but watchable.
It's the older movies for the most part that you can stream. I have friends that use Hulu and love it, but I don't have any experience with it. So far Netflix for all their problems seem to do a decent job. It's renting used cheaply mass produced DVD's, and internet streaming, so I can't be too finicky about it.

I think each area has a different turn around time. For some reason our Miami based Netflix is ok for turnarounds even though it has gotten slightly worse. But the bluray quality has improved. It used to be one in three discs were unplayable, now it's about one out of 15.

They really blew it on the price increase fiasco, and how they went about it. I keep that in mind in my business too, as something not to do. I had to increase prices but used the opposite method to do it. So thanks Netflix for showing how NOT to handle price increases!

I'll continue the netflix for now, but I am highly interested in Vudu or other means if anyone has experience.

Even with the price hikes, we're still with Netflix, though I keep evaluating other options. We have Amazon Prime, which does provide the cheapest source for streaming content, but the interface is crap compared to Netflix, which makes it more trouble than it is worth.

I'd consider trying Blockbuster streaming if they came out with a PS3 app like the one Netflix offers. We only play games occasionally, but the PS3 gets used daily for its Netflix functionality. We watch far more TV shows than movies. I've never bothered with cable or gotten hooked on cable shows -- much easier to wait until series/seasons finish and then you can stream entire seasons, at your convenience, commercial free, with no waiting for the next episode.

For anyone who has streaming Netflix, I highly, highly, highly recommend Top Gear UK -- even if you don't care one lick about cars, it is hilarious. Three British guys driving broken down rustbuckets across the spine of Africa is one episode; 6'5" Jeremy Clarkson driving the worlds smallest production car through the halls of the BBC is another; a 1000hp Bugati Veyron in a drag race with a RAF Harrier jet is another; various celebrities tearing up the test track in econocars (Focuses, Kias, etc...) is part of EVERY episode. Enjoy!

I'm actually debating on going back to Netflix from Blockbuster. Netflix was always fast for me. Blockbuster on the other hand takes forever. It's typically a 5-6 business day turn around from when I mail a movie back to receiving a new one. Netflix typically received the next business day and shipped that day or the following day for me.

I have free streaming through Amazon Prime but as stated it's a horrible interface so I don't use it. I pay the $7.99 for Netflix streaming and am now paying $14.99 for blockbuster 3 out at a time.

Edit: Well it's supposed to be $14.99 a month. I was going through the cancellation process and it showed an offer for $14.99 a month for 3 out at a time. I'm being billed at $16.99 a month though. It's ridiculous how stuff just magically changes, I didn't agree to $16.99. Emailing customer service

HA! Funny you should mention that. That's my number-one use for Netflix streaming at the moment. Caught up on most of the recent seasons and have started watching from the second season (Netflix doesn't have the first for some reason).

And you are absolutely right, Top Gear UK is a great show even if you don't like cars. Hell, it's barely a car show. The challenges they do are more like Mythbusters stuff. What blows me away is the amount of effort (and money) they must put into each show. Their budget must be enormous! I mean, a space shuttle Reliant Robin?? Makes Mythbusters look like a kiddie show. Hell, I can recall several Mythbusters episodes where they had to let Tory step in and do whatever it was they were doing for "insurance reasons." Obviously they do not have that problem on Top Gear UK. Complete insanity, and absurdly over the top. Love it.

We've been skipping around between seasons, and its funny you mention budget -- the early seasons are visibly much lower budget than the later ones. The last few years, they've essentially gotten to throw out any rulebooks--or pocketbooks--and the results are some of the best shows they've ever put together. Glad to see someone else here loves Top Gear UK... maybe we can get a few more people hooked.

Yes, the second season shows are almost terribly boring compared to the recent shows (a lot of standing around and talking, much longer interviews), but it's still fun to see where they came from.

One more vote for Top Gear UK. Especially the specials. Bolivia and Vietnam stand out, though Botswana isn't bad either.

I personaly wont give Blockbuster a penny of my money. They have made millions off of **** over the public. Putting small local rental places out of business and charging $7 to rent a new release, and then they have the balls to complain about neflix and redbox. meh, I will stick with netflix. They have never given me a single issue, even when i lost one of their dvds

I signed up with Amazon Prime, thinking it was going to be UNLIMITED. Ah, no! I can watch seasons 9-12 of TG UK, and a bunch of old movies, but I still end up renting the streaming movies.
Tried watching Mean Streets last wknd(free). I got 1/2 way thru it, and said F it. Couldn't see the appeal of that flick.
Even when I see new releases, NOTHING appeals to me. Holyweird has just gotten sh*ttier as time goes on.
Which makes it harder and harder to justify upgrading to an Oppo!

I just wish there more concerts on BD, or BD-Audio releases:sad:

Amazon Prime is unlimited streaming. Unlimited streaming doesn't mean they have an unlimited selection, if they had that everyone would just go with them and put Netflix out of business. Unlimited streaming means you can stream as much of the Amazon Prime content they have as you want.

Netflix is the same, also unlimited streaming, of the selection that they have.

Speaking of Netflix, anyone else notice the new streaming functionality on PC where at the end of an episode it brings up that screen and then automatically starts playing the next episode? It's similar to the Xbox 360 interface in how it works, I like it.

Based on material selection, device support and overall functionality Netflix is still king IMO.

Curious how the lost DVD worked out for you. A few years ago I accidently destroyed a DVD and they made me replace it.

I use the local Library . I can go online, order or find the movies either blueray or dvd, when its in,they email me and i get them free for a week. If my local one doesn't have what I want, i can search others in the shipping area and they get shipped to my local one for free.

I MORE than get my money's worth. I'm still astounded after 2 years at how fast their turnaround is, and the selection is very decent.

N'flix asked that I fill out a questionaire with essay questions included in it. They know damn well what the beef is, judging by their multiple choice questions. I declined to take part in the farce. Blockbuster is just great..........so far.
