DSW Pro 600 Won't Power Up - Red light

Sat down to watch a movie and the sub did not turn on. Looking at the back I see an unfamiliar "red" light (not the yellow or green). I turned the sub off then back on. The light turns green then goes red within a few seconds. I turned off the main power, disconnected the power and audio cable, and let it sit. When I reconnected, still the same situation when I tried to power it up.

Unit purchased directly from Polk in Feb of 2010.

I would suggest contacting Polk Customer Service.

It looks like there is a short internal to the subwoofer, give Polk CS a call they are great!!

Is there a fuse you can replace?

Looks like there is a short internal to the subwoofer. The red light usually means that the sub is going into protect mode. I would check for any loose connections and then go from there. It may be something as simple as a shorted output, I'm sure Polk CS will set things straight with you.

No fuse. Will check for loose connections. It worked flawlessly for 1 1/2 year of minimal use. Really bummed, I really liked the performance and sound of this sub!

Looked inside. Where the speaker wires/connection attach to the circuit board is covered in brown residue. Flipped the circuit board over and same brown residue around the base of the capacitors. Appears the capacitors blew?

Yup. Looks like the amp is in need of repair.

Let Polk CS handle it, I'm sure their repair facility in CA will have you back up and running!!!
