When you die

Whats going to happen to your audio gear, music, etc.
Obviously, those with children have at least one option.
The events of the past year have gotten me thinking about these kinds of things.
With no kids, im wondering which nieces, nephews, friends would appreciate my meager rigs, and not terribly meager album collection.

And when I die, and when I'm gone,
There'll be one child born
In this world to carry on,
to carry on.I got static in my head
The reflected sound of everything -
I haven't thought about it specifically, but in general I have manuals/paperwork with dates and values on all of my big stuff, and labelled the original boxes stored in the attic.
I've also tagged the hundreds of bags and boxes of backup and project parts with descriptions and values.
I figure that way if I'm gone and my wife/kids want to sell rather than divvy up or donate, they will know the difference between a $10 and $100 tube, $50 and a $500 tonearm and $20 and $2,000 piece of wire.VTL ST50 w/mods / RCA6L6GC / TlfnknECC801S

I know exactly what will happen.
1) All of my stereo stuff will be sold at a garage sale for $1 each, or donated to St. Vinnys the day after I croak (a decent interval) because I wasted so much time fooling with and listening to them.
2) The police will be called the day after I croak and and asked to ...uhhh... dispose of my firearms in a safe manner so no one gets hurt by those icky things.
3) My collection of handtools and power tool will be tossed in the trash since no one fixes, or even knows how to fix, anything anymore.
4) My motorcycles will be sold for scrap metal so no one gets hurt on those damn dangerous thinngs.
5) My large collection of 60's/70's/80's LP's and CD's that I cherish will be tossed in the trash since everyone listens to Lady Gaga or various nutbag-grabbing rappers now.
6) However: My lime green leisure suit (that someone gave me as a joke) will be kept and displayed as a testament to my dorkiness for generations to come. That is if I am not dressed in it in my open casket against my wishes.
But maybe I am just being negative.Norh ACA-2B tube pre, Sumo Andromeda SS amp. Magneplanar MMG speakers, M&K MX1250 Subwoofer, Pro-Ject RM1.3 Genie TT with Sumiko Pearl MM cart., Keces DAC, Cambridge Audio Azur 640c CD player -

This is a damn good idea.!Too much **** to list.... -
Having 2 sons which love somewhat the same hobbies as I do I have an idea of what may happen.
1) All of my stereo video stuff will more likely be shared betwwen my 2 sons while some may be sold at a garage sale or donated to charity, some may even be trashed. My humble gear will at least give the opportunity to my sons to know that there is better than HTIB and computer speakers.
3) My collection of handtools and power tool will surely be splited between my 2 sons and cherished for years (the 3 of us are tolls lovers and quite handy with them).
4) Hopefully my house will be sold, both sons will hopefully split the money equally and hopefully drop it down on their own property in order to allw them to have an easier life than I did.
5) My humble collection of LP's might be of interest to my youngest son as we had a ball many years ago with the Turntable, he was quite impress by this rechnology.
6) A few pieces of furniture might be splitted between them but most of it may simply be discarded (hopefully given to charity) and the same will surely happen to my personal belonging (clothes etc...) (hopefully given to charity).
7) My car(s) will hopefully be driven till they die or else sold or discarded...
8) Both my sons and my 5 grand sons will hopefully cherish my sole/spirit for years to come.
scottyboy76; rather depressing post (but I undestand), I hope things are getting better down your way? Still praying for you and your family!
Cheers!

Somehow I doubt that God will be letting you anywhere near his rig. In fact, I would delete this post before God sees it and decides to send you to where there will be nothing but a melted Bose waveradio to pass around.:cheesygrin:The Gear... I'm currently single, so if I'm to kick the bucket without getting married, I will split up my gear/speakers and donate them to various senior centers so that the ladies/gents there can "get down and rock out". Last year, I donated a Cambridge Audio integrated amp and a pair of Energy bookshelf speakers to a senior center, and I found it to be very rewarding.
If I'm married and/or have kids, I will let them handle the gear as they see fit. None of my components/speakers are expensive or rare, so I'm not so concerned about what happened to them.
As for my music....
I think my almost 500 SACDs may bring some nice coinage, so I'm hoping someone get some benefit out of their sale. Most of my CD collection contain regular releases....well, I suppose the 24K gold CD of Elvis' "24 Karat Hits" may bring in some $$$. Maybe I will give that CD to my cousin in Hong Kong since he has a pair of B&W 801s to enjoy it with. Of course, some may find interest in those old CDs (the first CDs available to consumers) that I have. Otherwise, nothing too special about my other CDs and I don't think anyone will care too much about them if they are sold off.
As for my Debbie Gibson "Live in Concert" CD/VHS boxset, I wonder if the Smithsonian will be interested.
I do have a separate 1,500 CD Hong Kong pop music collection that may be of interest to collectors overseas. I do hope, perhaps, an university over there will take an interest since it goes back to the very first Chinese language CD ever released (in 1983).
My sister, a part-time musician, isn't much into physical mediums, so she wouldn't be interested in keep these CDs. Of course, if I'm married and/or have kids, I will inform them of the value of my music and they can decide what they like to do with it when I am gone. -

I'll probably let my daughter take what she wants (assuming I might outlive most of my friends--which is feasible!). Then, frankly, I'd give some "serious" consideration to leaving what's left to the Polk family here (not that it will be the greatest gear, lol).
I'd find one of you youngsters to divide and Karma out the cnh audio estate!

Never really thought about it. If it happens soon, then my wife will continue to use it and enjoy it. If it happens 30 or 40 years from now (much more likely), I doubt it will be worth worrying about, as it will have no value anyways. Won't make much difference to me either way, I'll be gone.
Since we have no kids, there are much bigger assets that we have to figure out what to do with. -

Amazing,
I was thinking that if you go to Hell instead, all there will be is a Bose Wave Radio and everyone else in Hell will keep commenting on "how good it sounds", and the fact that they "don't need those big boxes and wires anymore".
The only thing that the Bose Wave Radio will play will be "Muskrat Love", a medely of Bobby Goldsboro's "Honey" and "Me and God Just Watchin' Scotty Grow", and maybe some Lawrence Welk.

as always, your thoughts and prayers are deeply appreciated.
Really didnt mean for it to be a downer, just sorta entering a stage in life, I have always believed in a loving caring god, and i dont think this is all there is.
when i think about who my stuff goes to, its not a sad feeling, its really just assesing who has shown a love of music, an appreciation of items like this, and who would be most likely to get good use and enjoyment out of it.
BTW, I will be taking my time windows 3s to a place in atlanta called audiolab for recapping.
He quoted me roughly 75 bucks to do both speakers, plus caps, so im not down or not lovin the audio gear i have now.
In fact, if keith allen from cp comes up this weekend as planned and buys my infinitys fs here, that will be in a fund to upgrade my adcom pre.humpty dumpty was pushed -
