Congrats my friend. I think you'll be holding onto these for quite some time. Enjoy em'... :)

Oh, and just to throw a wrench into the mix.. Good tubes + Harbeth = sex for the ears. Give it some time.. you'll get it. :D

You said it. I didn't want to be the one to begin raining on his parade, but since you've started, let's make it pore. I see a Dodd Audio Battery Powered Tube buffer in your future. It's basically a passive like you are accustomed with a tube buffer. Give it a look.

They gave me a hair-on-the-back-of-my-neck moment (which hasn't happended in a long time) during K.D. Lang's "Constant Craving." Those background vocals were floating baby, and as real as I've ever heard them.

That buffer is a serious piece of gear for the price.

And I warned you about that message board. ;)

Glad you're enjoying the new speakers.

Yes, but Confucious say: "One must have a problem before seeking a solution."

I know what you all are up to, talk Steve into buying some more crap, so his wife tosses him out; leading to a big "I'm getting divorced and need money " sale in the FM. What, you think I fell off the turnip truck this morning?

I am always shocked at how simple your setup is yet know what gear is there I can only imagine how good it sounds.

*drop kicks you* Toe in ole boy, toe in.

Damn, caught me...LOL There's actually 1" of toe-in, which at 12ft (remember my couch is far back) almost puts them firing directly at the center of the couch.

Because of my terrible bad left ear, I usually sit all the way to the left on the couch--the 1" toe-in puts the left speaker in-line with me when seated this way.

Thanks fellas, appreciate the compliments. I really like the bass character of these speakers, as well as visceral feel of drums---very snappy, yet never stringent. They ARE a speaker that drags you in.

Congrats on the new speakers! I really didn't know much about Harbeths before this thread. I spent a little bit of time reading up on them, and now I'm afraid I really want some. So I guess I'm cursing you at the same time I'm congratulating you. Enjoy!

Shocking, general observation in regards to the Harbeth.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Congrats on the speakers. If you have any DIY skills and are looking for the Harbeth sound most of you probably know about the Continuum, designed by Jeff Bagby which models the BBC LS3/5a-Harbeth P3ES. Here is a link to the kit which is very highly regarded and inexpensive to build.

Also Salk Sound sells the Continuum in very nice cabinets although more pricey.

There is lots of info on this build on the parts express forum.

Those stands are dyno-mite....very nice Steve.

Does that decor in the corner of the left speaker double as a bass trap ? Looks cool.

As an after-thought--I think bass traps have to be denser/thicker, so I don't know if it works very well.

I really like the Skylan stands---but they are hard to find without shipping from Canada. I like that the speaker plate is the same size as the speaker; and the columns are fillable. The only place I could find them in the US was Acoustic Sounds website, and luckily they had them in stock. The model I have is made specifically for the Harbeth Compact 7ES series. The 20" stand puts the speakers tweeter center axis at 37".

Thanks, it's my personal theory that the first thing is to get as many "electronics" out of the way as possible. To get at the truth, you've got to remove layers standing between "it" and you. If nothing else, my system is dead quiet.
