Silicon Tube rings

I see people sell these for tubes on the net.Just so you know i stock a lot of sizes in our company so if you want them get the dimensions and i may be able to save you a few cents.

I purchased a CJ-PV7 several years ago that had a small amount of melted rubber on the circuit board below one tube base.

It hadn't hurt anything and was easily removed. The seller told me it was the remnants of a tube damper, but I have no idea if it was a simple neoprene ring, silicone ring or if the tube went up in flames or what.

QUESTIONS: Are silicone rings able to withstand higher temperatures than simple neoprene rings? Do you know how high of a temperature silicone can withstand?

Silicon handles higher temps.Regular about 200 deg and hi temp silicon about 245
then you can get into kalrez which is good to about 600 deg but i don't know if that would be a dampening material.Different consistency stuff.

Probably sorbothane. CJ has a warning on their site against using those due to melting issues. I've got a call into them to see what dampers they recommend.

I've been using Herbie's for about 3 years now and they are very, very good, but also comparatively expensive.

I'd love to try this economical alternative if possible.

what's the outside dimension of the tube where the ring would sit?

On a GE I just grabbed, I got approx. 13/16"-7/8".

Based on the 7/8 ID here is info from our company website.These are good to 450 degrees too.
Teflon may also be available.I'll check.

Here's Teflon-a little softer durometer but you wouldn't notice by feel probably.
