Hey guys! I am setting up a 5.1 system and the woman wants the sub in the back of the room out of sight. I am thinking of running the cable through the attic and down the wall to conceal the sub in the back of the room. Is there any reason this is a bad idea? Also where can I find 100+ ft of subwoofer cable? What is the difference between subwoorfer cable and speaker wire? I am new to building a system so... im kninda learning as I go. Thanks in advance for your help!!

Id go under the floor if possible. Have you looked into the wireless subs? probably your better option there if possible.Too much **** to list....

Generally speaking, subwoofer cable is going to be a single RCA style cable instead of wire. That isn't always the case, but it's more than likely what you will have to deal with.
Is this a pre-existing system that you are just hooking up for someone? If not SDA's suggestion of getting a wireless sub is a great one. Check out Polks DSW wi line of subs (unsure of other makes with wireless capabilities)
Otherwise, depending on the layout of the room and the decor - you could always cover the sub and use it as a low "table" of sorts. I.E. cover it with some cloth, and put a plant or something on top of it. My Christmas tree stood on top of mine this year
Check out Monoprice.com for all your cable needs. This should at least get you pointed in the right direction. You'll be hard pressed to find a better price on cables anywhere else (especially that length)
