Should I stay away from used RT20p's?

I found a local seller with a set of RT20p. In doing some research on here, it seems like most of these speakers at some point have one or multiple drivers go out. These parts seem increasingly difficult to find. At what price point does it seem worth buying them? He's asking $300 but seems motivated and has mentioned that offers are welcome.

I have RT16s that I am the original owner of and that have not been used much at all in the last 10 years. I recently hooked them up in a 2-ch room and have been loving them. It made me take a look at what's out on the used market. These RT20p would go in my main living room and replace Paradigm Studio 20 v.3. I like the Studio 20s, but for a few reasons I have been itching to make a change. Just a little context.

Those are awsome speakers. 300.00 and below is fine and dandy.

A friend just sold me his pair and I replaced both midwoofers (I knew I had to) and couldn't be happier. They are detailed and they can also ROCK very loudly with ease. Bass, did I mention Bass..... they have it in spades!!!!

I've heard the RT16's and owned the RT12's. I was always impressed with them. Though they were always kinna overlooked by the Polkies.

The RT20's have a powered sub so the bottom end would be rather robust.

The XO's are rather simple design and would be a cheap mod and would make them damn nice speakers.

As a point of comparision I bought RTA15TL's for $175 on CL. The cabinets were a bit chewed up but I would ask for him to lower the price. I liked my RT's but the RTA are a better speaker.

    Good luck

Where were you able to find the drivers? Someone on here or eBay? That's my main concern, drivers and amps, should they go out in the future.

    Good Will store ..LOL

I bought a set of S6's for 30.00 and I read where the S8's have the same model, but the 6's midwoofers do fit too.

They might not be the same model # but they sounded great compared to blown and frozen ones.

Bought mine new in 1995, handed them down to my son. During my ownership I replaced all mid-drivers, 2 bass drivers, amp & 1 tweeter - all under warranty. My son tells me they are doing just fine still.
