I am new here and am trying to learn. Does anyone have experience with the SDA SRS 2.3 speakers? They look impressive, how much power do I need to drive them?

I don't know about the SRS 2.3, but I have the 2.3 TL (later version of the same speaker), and drive it with 45 watt tube amps to excellent results. I'm extremely pleased with mine after a crossover upgrade, though I also quite liked them before I did the upgrade.

I drive my modded 2.3TL's quite nicely with ~150 wpc of solid state, high current power. I would advise getting quality amplification. You can do well used if new is too rich for your budget.

Do a search here for some brands that folks like. My power amp is an Odyssey Stratos Stereo Plus.

    BTW welcome to CP!

You need to be sure that whichever amp you use has a common ground on the speaker outputs or bad things can happen when the interconnecting cable is used. Do you have the IC cable ? Welcome to the fray !

I've always wanted a set of sdas and I see a nice set of srs compacts for sale. Will this sound as well as my 10Bs only with the SDA imaging?

Ty for response. I'm going to take a litle guilty pleasure and buy them. I hope they give me some of the thrill of the first set of sda 1s I heard back in the early 80's.

FYI Polk never made "SRS compacts" unless your thinking of CRS's but that's an apple & oranges thing.

You are correct. I should have said sda compacts. I hope toolfan understood which ones I meant.

The entire SDS SRS 2 line is my personal favorite form factor. Many consider the SDA SRS 2.3 TL as best of breed, even over the big boys.
