Could use a comma or two, but it's not too bad! :)

My vote is for Rodgers, obviously. Brees is a great QB, there's no doubt about that...but Rodgers is the image of QB perfection.

Rodgers won 14 of the 15 games he started. He set an NFL record with a 122.5 passer rating. He is the only passer in history to throw for at least 4,000 yards with six or fewer interceptions.

Rodgers wasn't one of the three quarterbacks with more than 5,000 yards this season, but he had 161 fewer attempts than Matthew Stafford, 155 fewer than Brees and 109 fewer than Tom Brady. This means that he was much more efficient with his throws.

Rodgers also had an NFL-best 9.25 yards per attempt, an underrated statistic.

He did it all while playing 12 of 15 games outdoors, with the 27th-rated running game and the NFL's worst defense based on total yards. He did it for a team with no other offensive All-Pro players and only one on defense (Charles Woodson). (Both Saints guards were elected, and Saints tight end Jimmy Graham was a second-teamer.)

(got all this off the interwebs, btw)

The fact of the matter is, Rodgers (just like Payton) IS the Packers. He wins the games for them. When all you have is a passing game, and you can still throw for nearly 5000 yards, 46 TD, and only 6 INT...You deserve to win.

The backup quarterback came in for one game and threw for 6 TDs and 480 yards. Enough said :p

The fact that Matt Flynn had the best game of his career (probably the best game he will ever have) means Rodgers doesn't deserve MVP?

    I'm confused.
By the way, Flynn had a fumble AND an interception in that game.

Also, I personally wouldn't count Brees' breaking Marino's yard record as a big consideration in the MVP voting.

    Why?

Because 2 other QB's this season broke the same record, and several others were very close. Rodgers himself might have been able to do it if he had played that last game.

It just goes to show that this is now a passing league. Those numbers are going to become more and more attainable.

Big difference between Rogers and Manning. I'm not saying Rogers doesn't deserve MVP, because he does and would get my vote. But GB showed that they can win without Rogers, Indianapolis has most definitely proven that they cannot win without Manning. I would argue that no one player has had more impact on their team in NFL history than Manning.

    Definitely a valid argument.

Of course. It proved that the Packers offense worths more than an individual. A backup quarterback went in and soundly beat a playoff team who determined to win. It proved others could step up without Rodgers being there. As far as I know, MVP means "Most Valuable Player" --- to his team. So there are plenty of argument for Eli Manning, for Drew Brees, and even Tim Tebow. And I agree with AsSiMiLaTeD that Peyton Manning's impact on his team is way more than anybody else's on their teams, however that also proved the coaching staff was horrible for not being able to build a fail-safe system. Look at Belichick, without Brady his team still went 11-5.

I can see it being a split MVP between Rodgers and Brees. It has happened before and these two are high profile QBs who each had great seasons and led their teams to the playoffs.

Personally, I wouldn't see a split as being fair.

Brees had a VERY good running game to help balance out the offensive load, which in my opinion proves that Rodgers deserves the MVP, since every single victory was on his shoulders (literally).

But, luckily for whoever wins the votes...my opinion is very biased and not very educated.

That's a great article, and makes some great points...however, going off what he said, Brees would probably be voted as MVP now simply because he broke the passing record (which happened after that article).

I love watching both of them play, but I have to give it to Aaron...

He is a better QB IMO. He controls the game better and makes better choices. When you air it out as much as he does and only have 6int on the season, that shows the level of control he has on his game.

I lose a bit of respect for a QB when I think he will make a risky desicion chasing stats and records.
