Make sure you are hooked up to the sub pre out on the Onkyo. The pre outs all have a shaded background. Others have mistakenly connected to the sub input.

Good advice above. Two common mistakes are:

    1. Not telling the AVR there "is" a sub there.

    2. Running the sub cable to the Onkyo's SUB inputs rather than the sub PRE-OUT!

Other possibilities: Sub LEVEL on the Onkyo--if set too low you won't hear anything from your sub!

So go into all Sub-related menus and check all your settings. Also, check your cables, use a different cable, that is. And make sure that you're connected to the LFE "in" on the sub itself.

Check sub "crossover Frequency", make sure it's around 80hz or so.

If all of that "fails" then you probably do have a problem with the Sub-out itself, on the Onkyo and a look under the hood might be in order!

    Hope it's something simple!

Are you in Direct or "Pure Audio" mode?

In either of these modes the sub will have no output.
