.... bless her soul, says to me lets buy a turkey while they are on sale instead of whole chickens.....for the dog. Alittle back ground first, we cook for our dog and add it to her normal dogfood. Crock pot chicken with potatos, carrots, celery. Ever want to get your dog to eat veggies, toss them in a crock pot. With the price of whole chickens going up and turkey comming down, sure lets give it a whirl. So today I have the turkey in a roaster, potatoes, carrots celery, the whole nine yards, a 16 lb one at that. The wife calls me as I'm cutting up the veggies, " Whats for dinner tonight, should I stop for some Taco Bell ?"

Ya think the dog might share some turkey with us Honey ?

I'll be damned if the dog gets a turkey and I'm eating taco bell. Sheeez..........

That's the funniest thing I've heard in a while! The other day a friend's girlfriend was hanging out and said, "I haven't been here since the last time I was here, I think."

    She doesn't think to well.

    I know that feeling....

I buy pieces of turkey breast from the local Trader Joe's for my dog very few days (did it this morning before work). Sometimes he gets bits of cube steak. These are added to his regular dog food, of course.

Meanwhile, my dinner consisted of a bowl of oatmeal. Sigh.

It could be worse.... My wife came to eat lunch with me last week. She pulled up in her car and was jamming out to some Adele (one of her christmas CD's). I commented, "Wow your really cranking it, I dont think I have ever heard you listen to music this loud" (she normally makes me turn mine down :frown:). She looks at me and in a dead serious voice says "Thats because your not with me when I am alone"..... and then is confused why I start dying of laughter.....

My dad (who lives at his girlfriend's) owns a beautiful mortgage-free 2,800 square foot 4-bedroom ranch home on 3-1/2 acres in an extremely nice zip code.

He maintains it, pays for gas heat, electricity, hot water, property taxes, costs to drive there every day or so, etc., etc. Probably totals just over $700+ per month.

    Dad's girlfriend has allergies.

The ranch home tenants? . . . . his two cats.

Animal owners are nuts! I know this because I am one, most of you already know that.

Do you add the meat/veggies for health reasons? Our dog Drama(the smaller one) has epilepsy and one of the things I've looked into is switching him to a chicken and rice diet. It's supposed to help with the seizures. I also wonder how MY completely healthy lab would react to the change in diet. I'm sure we'll at a minimum have some very large BM's in the yard!

On another note, last week we go out to Ruth Chris, didn't have my big boy pants on, so I brought home a good chunk of my bone in ribeye. The wife gave the dog the bone, but left half of the steak attached. Nothing like moving down on that totem pole guys, crap, that was a 50 buck steak.

My parents are somewhat similar. When my mom cooks herself some breakfast - she throws on a couple eggs and some sausage for the dog. He doesn't get leftovers, he just gets his own meal.

Same with going out to eat. If the wife and I take my folks out for dinner - on the way back they always ask me to pull through a drive-thru so they can get a couple burgers for the dog. Sheesh

Really? A dedicated stop to buy human food for the dog? Wow!

Ok, I'll admit I do stop at Wendy's to get a grill chicken snack wrap for my dog (please hold the sauce and cheese)

Nothing wrong with that, when mine goes to the vet for her yearly checkup, if she gets a good report card, she also gets a cheeseburger from Micky D's. I'm tellin' ya, this dog hit the jackpot when my wife saw her at one of those Paws adoption events.

Crock pot chicken, Turkey, steak, Bacon wrapped filets, imported cheeses, Veal, Meatballs, Lamb chops......some people don't eat like my dog. No wonder every stray dog in the neighborhood winds up at my door. Word on the street is..... yeah, the word is we are suckers. I won't even go into the bowl of food for the deer, whole grain breads, corn chips, watermelon, assorted nuts, godiva chocolate, even the birdfeeder, I put almonds and walnuts in there for the woodpeckers. Those woodpeckers sit off my deck and squak at me when the feeder is empty. The deer just look at you if their bowl is empty as if to say....WTF man.

But back in the summer (here in Mississippi), I was at a friends house after work and reached into the fridge for a bottled water. His wife slapped my hand and said"Don't you know you can't have that? That is for Daisy!" Daisy is a mini daschund. I had to settle for a cold beer

You dog lovers need to feed B.A.R.F (Bones And Raw Food) there is something really cool about a dog crunching up some raw chicken wings. The "landmines" end up way smaller. These guys love(d) it:
