Monitor 60 Series 2, rattling?

Upon receiving and setting up my monitor 60's, I noticed there was a rattle when moving the either of the speakers, and giving them a shake made it more apparent. I didn't think much of it at the time, but today while listening to them, I noticed that both of the speakers made a rattling sound when playing at medium volumes, especially during bassy parts of songs.

I'm thinking that there's a wire loose in each speaker. I don't think any of the drivers are damaged, as the speakers are only 2 days old, and they haven't been played very loud at all.

Any thoughts?

    Series II = Newegg.

Is it rattling like there is something loose? I think this is what you mean since you say shaking the speaker makes it obvious. Otherwise, press on the speaker cones themselves and make sure everything is still smooth (no scratching noises as you push) - this should be a good troubleshooting step to see if you've blown something. More than likely not, but it's a good place to start.

It's definitely something loose. All 3 speaker cones on each speaker move freely when I push them.

I'd take the drivers out and look inside, but I'm sure that's a good way to void the warranty.

I'm pretty sure you are actually OK by doing that, as I've heard Polk actually telling people to remove drivers / backplates and check for loose connections. Being a NewEgg product though, I'm not sure if they would have any different standards.

With that being said though, I'd at least being it to their attention. I don't buy new things to have to fix them myself - I trust they would be in working order when I get them. Now if it means shipping them back, waiting another couple of weeks, and keeping your fingers crossed - I might try it myself. At least they should give you a credit. I've had PC cases dented that were usable, but not what I ordered (with the added dent)

    Let us know what happens

Alright, I'll see what newegg has to say about it. I hope I don't have to pay for return shipping though, that would not be cool :(

Well, I went ahead and opened them up, to find this. http://i44.tinypic.com/5mbb81.jpg

Should I just tape the cables to the side and see if that does it, or is there a more "professional" solution?

Makes sense that your hearing the cables slapping around. I'd be inclinded to tape them to the side. I guess if you wanted to get real fancy, you could actually use some wire tie-downs - but there isn't any benefit to doing so (and nobody would even know how it was done anyways)

Alright, went in and taped the wires down with the best audiophile grade duct tape, and it sounds all good.

You think the tape will have any issues holding up in there? These things move some air!

Extreme! I'll probably just go buy myself a roll of gorilla tape, that stuff is full of win!

Ty for the help though, saved me from having to RMA them for something that was easy to take care of.
