Too much Low Ends on my TSI300

Recently I get a pair of TSI300 and I'm very glad with the sound but I feel the low ends sometimes very hard, I separate from the wall and it minimize the situation but I would like neutralize the sound even more. Some friends told me to plug the ports with a sock or piece of foam but I don't know if its recommended. I know that some brands like Monitor Audio, Paradigm and some others bring with the certain models a foam plug with it, but again I don't know if Polk recommend plug it their speakers.

    Polk doesn't suggest stuffing any Power Port with a foam plug but you can certainly do whatever you want. The sock will most likely cause it to get sloppy and the transition between the midrange will get smeared. I would suggest spikes on the speakers to tighten everything up and be at least 12" away from the wall. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "hard" exactly.
    CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Polk doesnt make the TSi 300 to have its port plugged, but it cant hurt to try it. Without knowing more about your configuration we cant help much more.

    Answering these questions might help us help you :smile:

    1. Is this a stereo (2 channel) setup or is it a mutlichannel setup (5.1, 7.1, etc)?
    2. What Reciever/Amp are you using to drive the TSi 300's?
    3. What are you using as your source (CD player, computer, blu-ray player)
    4. What format is the music in on your source (mp3's, streaming pandora, etc) and how do you have it connected to your reciever/amplifier.

    Welcome to Club Polk!

    What's under your speaker? Carpet or wood or tile? You may just want to change what's underneath to see what that does to your sound. If I'm not mistaken, the TSI-300s are bottom ported? Experiment with that and also listen to what doro says above!

    Also, set your tone controls to "flat" and work from there! If you're equalizing the bass you may be creating some of your problems, depending on the room and the settings!

    The port tunes the drivers and the cabinet. I would look for better fixes than plugging the hole. That will make the speaker perform totally different, maybe not in a good way.
