How did your wife dress up your speakers for Christmas? I came home from work and this is what I found:eek: Post a picture if you experienced something similar.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

The first picture looks festive. As for myself, I'll tolerate Mrs. Clause putting a non-scratching Xmas decor on my speakers while Xmas music is playing throughout the house.

    Merry Christmas.

20 seconds after that her bags would have been packed and on the front porch.

I have a saying, you can replace "speakers" with what ever you value and fill in the blank.

IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE AS MUCH AS I VALUE MY SPEAKERS, DON'T **** WITH THEM!

Wow, some people really take this hobby too seriously. If you "rip your wife a new one" over something like this, your priorities are way out of order. They're just speakers.

Fatchowmein has a much better and more realistic view. I understand his wanting something non-scratching on top, and it seems he and his wife came a nice compromise.

Sure...scratch up 8 grand speakers and say "oh thats ok honey".
Do you feel the same way when your car gets keyed in a parking lot ?
How about that brand new leather sectional, with the power recliners you just paid 5 g's for and the wife runs her fingernails along the leather, would that upset you some ? Probably not.
Sorry dude, there is no compromise on this subject. If you want nice stuff, you want to keep it that way as long as possible and certain behavior dictates that.

What exactly brings you to that conclusion? The fact that I can differentiate between inanimate objects and human beings and view them in their proper perspective?

I've had things damaged, including dents and dings on my car while in a parking lot. I wasn't happy, but I got over it quickly and certainly didn't verbally abuse the other person involved over it. I've also gotten into more severe accidents, and the damage was repairable; after all, it's just a car. Inanimate objects are repairable/replaceable, and that is the key concept. Your wife (and other human beings) are not replaceable, and neither are the relationships if ruined over a lousy pair of speakers (or other object).

No, the fact that you have no sense of humor, which was the gist of this entire thread. Maybe you need more eggnog, I don't know....something.

Who said anything about ruining relationships ? It's more of an understanding between 2 people is all. As far as a wife not being replaceable....a few here would beg to differ with ya on that one.

It's not about inanimate objects being replaceable. More so about respect of one's property and a certain level of expectations from those using it. Nothing more, nothing less, your taking a tad too much liberty with my words and reading way too deep into this.

Well, this being the internet, it can be hard to guess whether others are trying to be humorous or not. Some here used an appropriate emoticon or two to help convey that. However, others didn't, and also used strong enough phrases that it didn't give that impression. If I'm trying to convey sarcasm or humor via text, I at least try to make that clear so others will understand that it was intended that way.

I've seen relationships ruined over things like this. If that isn't the case with anyone here, that is great, but it does happen. Also, if anyone here really does think of their wife (or any other person) as replaceable or disposable, then they do have a problem; I suppose that's just my opinion, but I will stand by it.

The phrase "ripped her a new one" is what tipped me off about your post. If you meant it in a less serious manner, then you should have made that clear. However, it wasn't just your post that inspired my original post; it was also brought on by gimpod's post. Maybe he meant it in a non-serious way as well, but I didn't get that impression from his post either.

 They are the smallest speakers I own but I do tend to stick with bookshelves. I do buy CDs and rip them using iTunes to Apple Lossless. It was one of your earlier posts that had me looking into the Wadia / iPod solution and I've been very happy with it. Thanks

For the record, my wife knows which speakers she can mess with and which ones she can't. The ones in the picture are just for casual listening when we have company over or just chilling with a glass of wine, etc. The have a small footprint and are good for the space. She would never mess with my office rig which is more expensive.

OMG that was funny good thing I wasn't drinking something it would have been every where..

My wife don't touch my 2 channel rig or my car not because I wont let her but because she knows it's mine and let's me take care of them. It is all about respect and as Tony stated if you want nice things there is a certain behavior that needs to be in place to keep them that way. It is all about respect and your wife should respect your hobby/gear/whatever it is you have as well as you or I should hers.

No thanks, I will be sticking to George's brew. He adds a bit of vinyl additive that makes it so much better than plain old STFU.

I've been here a long time. I've seen a lot of people who tried to save us from ourselves come and go. Well, we can't be saved from ourselves, and the savior usually gets a little bloodied in the process. Just a thought.

Y'all are doing it wrong.....if you find items on top of your speakers, play them loud enough to rattle the objects completely off and drop to the floor. If the stuff is broken by it's fall to the ground, lesson (hopefully) learned.......ha
