It's time to continue the upgrade so I am on to source components.

Does anyone have experience comparing the 93 to the Pioneer elite bdp53fd?

I am torn between staying with the Sunfire pre and acquiring a 93 or going with the sc57 and the 53fd. It would seem the convenience of the all Pioneer system would be great but if the oppo is that much better it is certainly worth the consideration.

Haven't owned pioneers newer players but love the oppo 93 and Pioneer Elite avr combo. Pioneers blu ray players are have said to be going down hill with them being made by another company, Sharp I think.

I'd say go Oppo and SC55/57 combo.

Is that for the hdmi upgrade? Why do you suggest the sc57 over the Sunfire tgp3?

I think you'd be hard pressed to notice a difference on the video/ht side of things. If your going to use the player as a source for cd's then go with the OPPO.
    HT SYSTEM-
    Sony 850c 4k
    Pioneer elite vhx 21
    Sony 4k BRP
    SVS SB-2000
    Polk Sig. 20's
    Polk FX500 surrounds

    Cables-
    Acoustic zen Satori speaker cables
    Acoustic zen Matrix 2 IC's
    Wireworld eclipse 7 ic's
    Audio metallurgy ga-o digital cable

    Sonos zp90
    Grant Fidelity tube dac

Ahh ok. I have considered a Poineer cdp (PD-D6MK2-K) as well. I sort of want it to match lol. Problem is I'd rather keep the 425. The wife has cut me off for funds so I have limited to work with at this point. I would have to sell the 425 keep the 200 to go dedicated br/dvd-cdp. It keeps coming back to "get the oppo" as I don't see parting with the 425 any time soon (insert man in chair with hair blowing back here)

Ever since Blu ray hit the market I have yet to be fully impressed by a Pioneer Elite Player. I'm so sad to say.

    Even the 09 Dan??

The Oppo smokes the Pioneer BDP's IMO. I have not had my hands on the 09 though..

Yeah it's built like a tank , yeah it looks like a very high end piece of gear. It's slow and the day is long , the video and audio quality is no better then my Cambridge Audio BD player for 1/3 the cost. I'm not in at all.
Side note , no SACD , No DVD AUDIO , no APPS , No nothing.

As in the adjacent thread on similar topic...how much of the 93's potential will I realize with the tgp3? No hdmi lends me to believe it might become the weaker link. However the analog rca connections are beginning to intrigue me.

Which Cambridge? At some point I need to add a Bluray player, for Bluray music, to my two-channel system, and the Oppo BD-95 has been the obvious choice. However, Cambridge now has the 751BD that they claim is great for music. I know their 840C CD player gets great reviews, and I personally have the 840E pre and two 840W amps, and they work great. If the 751BD stacks up to that gear then it is a great player.

Shunyata Sigma HC (2), Sigma Analog, Sigma Digital, Z Anaconda (3) power cables
