polyfill in monitor 30 speakers

looking for some insight or advice for 1 of my monitor 30's.

my 3 year old son has apparently been sticking his hand into the rear of the speaker and my wife noticed he was touching or pulling on something. it turned out to be the polyfill in the speaker unit.

he didn't rip it out or anything, but i have no idea where it was situated originally, and where ever it was, he seems to have pulled it away from there.

the questions i have are--
1)will the displacement of the polyfill impact the sound quality at all
2) if it's a 'yes,' is it easy enough just to open the housing and put it back in its place
3) where exactly does it go? should it be situated any where in particular or does it it just sit in the housing anywhere?

thanks for the help.

I have no idea where Polk puts the pfill in its Monitor 30s, though I own some. It's pretty easy to find out though. Just pull the front woofer out and take a look or maybe someone else here knows. Will it change the sound? Well, that depends on just how "much" your son has pulled out? A mild disturbance won't affect much.

Good Luck. Funny how kids find ways to get into everything. I bought a used CSi-3 center from a Polkie here and found a few pennies his kid had "saved" in this audio-piggy-bank? lol

It was pretty easy to open her up, though. Actually now that I think about that, I went into the speaker from behind...unscrewed the binding post panel carefully, found a thin membrane between it and the crossovers and an abundance of p-fill behind the low frequency drivers.

    thanks.

yeah, i tried looking at the rest of my monitor 30's and i couldn't see any polyfill through the rear with the exception of one my son seemed to play with. that's why i was wondering if the placement is maybe higher near the woofer. i'd much rather he stick to picking his nose. haha.

Most times poly is used behind the tweeters, that is why you cannot see it looking through the port.
