ST. Bernardus

my god people do yourself a favor and run through as many as you can find. It's like the beer god himself came to earth for a day and taught the merry Munks how to properly brew the correct Beer. Amazing flavor , amazing head , amazing glass ,simply remarkable.

It's a work night and I had a Saranac Lake Effect for Diner , I got this 4 pack with the glass and have been siting on it for about 2 weeks. I had to run through all my other beers before I wanted to crack this open. Now I'm a bit mad at myself for doing so as I am temped to wreck all of them and go to bed nicely buzzed on a work night. Not at all my style but man this stuff really leaves you wanting more.

Your beer threads make me jealous.

Every time I go to the beer store, I always grab something new. Some awesome stuff out there. Trying Sam Adams Winter Lager ATM... last one of the case actually... time to head to the store!

Here Dan is with these "amazing" beer threads and what am I doing? Trying to explain why people like the "taste" of beer when they get older to my teenage daughter who can't stomach the "smell", the "smell" (yuck). Well, I suppose I'm lucky because I don't have to worry about underage drinking, right?

But what about me, I still have to deal with these threads? And I've been able to drink since I was eighteen.

My Son is 16 and loves beer. He is not permitted to drink outside our house. He is also not really permitted to drink inside our house. I do however allow hime to have one on occasion. We are German and Beer is apart of our culture. I had my first beer when I was like 6 or 7.

Everything in moderation , I don't drink that much but when I do I like to have a really good brew.

I've had every one of those....quite good.
*WARNING* Don't be fooled by the adorable old man on the bottle, the ABT 12 is a 10% and if not careful, will knock you on your arse. The others are in the 8% range if i'm not mistaken. Much more potent than people's precious BL and ML.

I've been trying to finish the Sam Adams holiday pack that was given to me for free. (Wouldn't of picked it up on my own but free is free) I completely forgot about their Chocolate Bock! As far as i am concerned, it's Sam Adams best beer. Also included is the Holiday Porter, Sam Lager, Winter Ale, Fezziwig, & Black Ale.

St. Bernardus Tripel is one of my favs. Gotta love their marketing too:

"Water, pumped up from a depth of 150 meter is the basis of all St. Bernardus beers. This water is not only the purest but has also a historical background. Scientists have proved that the water that is pumped up now, is originating from rainfall from the time of Jeanne d’Arc.
The water seeped to Watou through a pervious stratum of sand from the St. Omer area in France.
After brewing, the beer is maturing in a natural way and subsequently bottled unfiltered.
By adding sugar and yeast, the beer gets a second fermentation in the bottle,
carbonating the beer in a natural way.
This gives the beer a beautiful and large froth."

I'm pretty much done with Sam Adams. They use to be my higher end beer that I would get when I wanted something better. I confess I have not tried their Chocolate Bock which is intriguing. I'll have to go out on a limb and give Samuel Adams one last try. I'm fully into Chocolate Lagers and Stouts.
