Ghost Pucks Seen on TV.....

No this isn't a commentary on the latest episode of "Ghost Hunters"...the wife and I are sitting here watching the Blackhawks and I'm playing with picture settings on the new 80" beast. We've noticed that when the puck is sliding across the ice at a high speed, there is a ghost image of the puck immediately behind and ahead of the real puck. I have set the motion enhancement from low to high and the film mode from standard to high and the ghosting is most noticeable when its all set to high, which is the opposite of what I was expecting. So what am I seeing? Is there something I should have set differently to eliminate? Its not really a problem, just curious why and what.......

This is a common problem with LCD type TV's. Nothing wrong with your set. Plasma does not do this at all. As killer is having a 80 inch TV , these along with off angle viewing has not been corrected with this technology.

Hockey actually gives many of my customers motion sickness with the LCD tv's. We usually have to swap them out for Plasma and the issue s gone. I don't even sell anyone a LCD tv anymore at all unless they want a small bathroom or Kitchen TV.

    Sorry bro.

It used to happen with Epson, Pansonic, and even JVC but with LCOS it was more like a judder when fast action would appear on screen. Supposedly with the newer models the issue has been fixed. Had you purchased last yrs model you could have possibly experienced it. Now they are using new LCD 480hz panels so the newer models are getting excellent reviews. The new Epson 5010 is supposedly the holy grail for anything under $5K. I'm waiting until they add 4K resolution like Sony and JVC, then I may end up an Epson Fanboy.

I turned my Film Mode OFF and Motion Enhancement OFF. I don't run NONE of the features that came with my unit.

I get that all the time as a result of a misspent youth and my experimentation with hallucinogenic chemicals.........Pretty soon you won't even notice the "trails". On a more serious note, next TV, plasma, Panasonic plasma.

When I saw the thread title, I thought it was referring to the haunted puck/pods in Asia.

Just stop watching hockey. Problem solved!

On a serious note, if you had the motion discussion with the salesperson, you may be able to talk to the store's management and get some help trading up.

That was one of the main reasons I ditched LCD, bad motion on sports. The blur looked like the old Star Treck movies when they went into warp drive.
