Claritycap ESA 630V - various values for Polk speakers

So for those that have been reading the vintage forum, you already know I had to buy 10 ea of the values I needed for my 2.3 TLs. Now the extras are up for sale. All caps are brand new, and I'm selling them at 10% off the list price. I got a larger discount, but then shipping ate up a chunk of that, so 10%. But if you want to upgrade your 2.3 TLs, and will buy a full set, I'll give an additional discount. I have enough to do 4 more sets of 2.3 TLs. In other words, 8 of each value listed. Prices are as follows:
5.8 uf 18.00
8 uf 21.00
16 uf 35.00
18 uf 40.00
27 uf 58.00
So that's 344 for a full set for a pair of 2.3 TLs, but I'll go 325 shipped if you buy a full set. And I really prefer to sell them as full sets instead of ending up with a handful of values here and there. You will almost certainly need Gimpod's boards to do this upgrade. These caps are not small. An 18 uf is about 3-4 times the size of a 20 uf Sonicap.
There's also the option, if you're not comfortable upgrading your xovers yourself, for you buy the rest of the parts, ship them and your old xovers here, and I'll send you a tested set of xovers built using these caps, no extra cost. But, again, only for 2.3 TLs.
Questions? PM me for my number. If I don't respond, I didn't get your PM.

How would these compare to the SC Gen. 1's?Testing

Not in crossovers. I replaced the gen 1 couplings caps in my amps and like the ESAs better than the gen 1s they replaced. But that's very recent, so they have barely started to break in. Really, I based the buy off the cap shoot out thread and from talking to a few members. I'll be upgrading the xovers in mine in a couple of weeks, and will know more then. The subject was also discussed in the thread I started to try to get a group buy together. http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?122979-Any-interest-in-a-Claritycap-group-buy. The consensus seemed to be they're anywhere from better to hella better. Dunno.... I mostly just wanted a balls out upgrade so maybe I'll quit buying new speakers every 2-3 months.Turntable: Empire 208

I am certainly interested in a full set for some 2.3TL's, but would like to know how well they would fit on Gimpod's (Tony's) boards? Can Tony chime in on this? Or do you know how well they would fit quadzilla? I just got a set of Tony's boards and was planning on rediong the crossovers but wouldlike to know how well the Clarity caps would fit on the boards. I know Tony's boards were designed with sonicaps in mind. For $325, it seems like a reasonable upgrade for the price difference between the Sonicaps and Clarity cap ESA's. Thanks quad, please save a set for me.

There's a pic of a partial layout, including the largest cap in the set, here: http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?126065-My-2.3-TL-rebuild-so-close-it-hurts&p=1691744&viewfull=1#post1691744

Thanks. Sorry, I didn't see you posted a picture in your thread until after I posted here. No problems with getting the leads into any of the holes due to the capacitor sizes? I doesn't look like it from the pictures, but I thought I would ask.

quadzilla, could you ether post or PM me the physical dimensions of these caps (width x length) in inches for me. particularly the 5.8, 8, 16 as these are custom values.

Did you need something more precise than the measurements at http://www.partsconnexion.com/capacitor_film_claritycap_esa_630.html? A quick check showed that the 8 is the same size as the 8.2. I'd expect that the rest are within a mm or 2 of the nearest value listed there.Turntable: Empire 208

And still 2 sets. The offer to rebuild your crossovers for free if you buy a set also still stands, but you'll need gimpod's boards to make it work. Otherwise, I'd have to do a point to point custom board, and that I'd have to charge at least a little bit for.Turntable: Empire 208

Damn! I have the boards, the 2.3's, but just dont have the TL's -
You can make them work with stock boards with some creativity...
Thats just 3" threaded rods - you can get threaded rod in any length.. so yeah, creativity- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Except that the 2.3 TLs xover is screwed to the large inductor. I guess you could get some really long #6 machine screws, but still.... and anyway, a point to point would also be an upgrade over the stock xover board.Turntable: Empire 208

No arguing that, just throwing out alternatives
The ESA capacitors are incredible, IMO- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Yeah, ESA is my new minimum Not saying the sonicaps are bad, but they don't begin to compare to the ESA line. I'd say the ESAs are about as far above sonicaps as sonicaps are above stock.Turntable: Empire 208

I just wanted to post that if anyone is on the fence about buying these that you will not be sorry. Rob did my crossovers and got them to me 2 weeks ago from last Friday. I know that he spent a lot of time on these and his work is top notch. The solders were perfect. So if you get these, he will mount them for free which is a great offer. Also Rob is a great guy to deal with. We talked quite a bit over the last month or so and he was always eager to answer all my questions and check in with me on how it was going. I also bought Gimpod's boards and he was also a pleasure to deal with and sent them directly to Rob for me.
I now have well over 350 hours on these and it has exceeded my expectations by a long shot. I am absolutely floored by this upgrade and am so glad I waited to do this when I did or I would have got the Sonic caps instead of these, which I am sure are great but I absolutely love these caps and what they are doing for my speakers. I cannot explain all the nuances, superlatives as some of you but my impressions mirror Robs when he posted along the way how his were turning out. The biggest things are the much wider soundstage and the bass is outstanding now.
So if any of you has been thinking of upgrading your crossovers, I would jump on these before they are gone, you will be floored like I am and glad you did.SDA SRS 2.3tls; RDO 198's, Dynamatted, Armaflexed, Gimpod Boards, Crossovers by quadzilla: Clarity ESA 630V, Mills Resistors, Track Audio Spikes, Musky's Curly Maple Caps

So you've heard the Sonicaps and these are much better? It's a given they are better than stock.

No I haven't. Didn't mean to say that these are better just that I am extremely happy with these. I was going to go with the Sonicaps but saw Robs thread and his offer and thought I would give them a shot.
