Problems with PSW111

I bought a PSW111 in July. I have it hooked up to a Denon 1910 receiver and did the set up using the Audessy system. The sub works fine with music. The problem I'm having is when I'm getting LFE input from movies. It's a hard phenomenon to describe, but here goes. When I get low vibrations like the HBO opening on The Pacific, Band of Brothers, or John Adams instead of low pulsing sound i get "whack, whack whack, ..." If I set the bypass to something lower it is not as bad.
