Sink full of water with a dap of dish soap. Dip a paint brush in the water, go around the album a few times on both sides. Rinse and wipe off with soft cloth put in dish rack.

Now, I only do this for used records that I get at the goodwill and used record stores. Takes the crap off them and cleans them up pretty good. Some people use distilled water, but since I only paid from 1 to 8 dollars for the record tap water works for me.

I use the sink soap method mostly and the glue method sometimes depending on the degree of nastiness.

Are you the "handy" type ? If so, there's a bunch of DIY washers & vacuums that can be made on the "cheap". I could have built a machine but opted to buy the Spin Clean system instead. I still might slit a crevice tool, line it with the proper felt/velvet/etc. fabric so that I can vac the Spin Clean fluid off and then do a clear water rinse/vac after. There are several very long threads on vinyl cleaning on A. Karma. If you decide to do it in the sink, mind the labels, it's easy to get em soaked/ruined if you're not careful!

I have to google some DIY stuff, like the wet sink thing. Seems to be the cleanest way to clean them, don't think anything is better then soap and water.

On the other hand yes got some albums from Goodwill, any place I can get the inside sleeves? I missing some.

how do the labels hold up after being doused? do they trap moisture only to have it spin off at 33 and a third?

Don't submerge the whole record. The Labels don't like to be doused.

I cleaned my first LP tonight using the sink / soap / water / paint brush / micro cloth towel to dry. I happy to way it helped this LP sound which was really dirty before. I like to do a better cleaning job, but for now it's fine and cheap.

I bought one of these. It allows me to clean thoroughly without concern for the paper.

PS - I bought mine from William Sergent (wmsar@cox.net). Do not know current status.

For a budget/non-DIY solution the Spin Clean is worth the $80.
