The new Thunderbolt technology really does have a lot promise. However, I would need to wait until the TB docking stations arrive, since I don't want to be confined to such a "small" monitor. I use a 52" Samsung right now, and I'm not sure I could go back to a smaller one.

However, a MB Air just won't cut it for me; I would need the MB Pro. I need a faster CPU, more RAM (at least 8GB) and more built-in storage (I have a 1TB HDD and 120GB SSD in my current laptop). I also may still need a dedicated graphics chip, although the HD3000 graphics are a big improvement over earlier Intel solutions, so I'm not 100% sure. Even so, Thunderbolt docking stations aren't available yet, and I'm going to be buying a new laptop this month. However, with this progress, a MB Pro may be in the cards for my next laptop.

I have the 13"MBP and I use it as a desktop most of the time hooked up to my external monitor and its great for portability as well. The only drawback is I can not hook up 2 monitors to it unless I get the thunderbolt displays or the Matrox dual head to go. The USB adapters have too much lag time for my taste.

You have a 52" monitor??? For a desktop???
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

Hmm, somehow I missed replying to this; sorry. It's a Samsung 52" LCD HDTV, but one that is designed for computer input (not all are). I use it as the monitor for all my computers. My primary computer is a Dell M6300 laptop with docking station, though a I have refurbished M6600 on the way (yay!). I also use it with a home-built file/media/web server, a Sun Ultra 60 and an SGI Octane. I manage all those via a very nifty Belkin 4 port KVM that supports both PS/2 and USB based computers.

Installed the Kingston 16gb memory kit and it runs great. Everything is much snappier compared to the 4gb. Still getting around everything just fine. Also installed NeoOffice and like the app very much. If anyone is looking for RAM that works well at a great price.
