One thing to note here if you aren't aware and might be having someone else do your xovers.

In the fist pic (of both xovers side by side) You'll note a gap between the resistor and the board. It is there for a REASON.

At higher listening levels those resistors will get warm. (That's why they "burn out"). If the resistor is placed next to the board or on sticky foam (lol) It will burn the board, the resistor, or your house. Either way it's safe to say under these close proximity circumstances YMMV...eh? Premature failure of the resistor is a best case scenario as the resistor casing will now expand and contract at different rates. Quickly cooling one side of the resistor and doesn't allow sufficient cooling to the other.

I think you would have to really crank it for extended periods on a regular basis for that to be an issue, IMO.

    Just a quick update.

I spiked my Cs350 and my 11t surrounds. The Belkin pf60 is in and doing a fantastic job. The Technics 1360 is spinning like a top and sounding good and strong (I fear a new cartridge is in order soon). I finally got my internet setup with highspeed and wrt300n for for the ipad (that was a painful wait lol). The shrink wrap, heat gun, and flexy stuff came yesterday so I'm about to tear it all apart and cover stuff up. This thing sounds amazing and I couldn't be happier.

Thanks to all the Polkies (even Brock ) For all your kind words and suggestions. The experience here is second to none and I could not have done as well without you folks.

    Thanks again, Dan

That's just stupidity to play something so loud as to have to track down component smells of burning parts. How old are you? Perhaps you should just get some Cerwin Vega's and a Crown Pro amp and be done with it. I like to listen on the loud side as well, but I also respect the money I have invested in my gear as well as the gear itself. Grow up. You have far too many "issues" with melted components for this to be a one off thing. There is a pattern here and it's from your stupidity or simply not giving a rats ****.

You put all this crap out there, like it's some badge of honor that you are melting tweets and smell burning components, etc. So people are going to comment on it. I just don't see why you continue. I guess at our age (obviously I know you aren't that young) I don't get why this is still happening. I know, I know.......it's a discussion board and we are just discussing but since I was a silly teenager I have never had any issues with burning parts or blowing drivers, etc. I'd like to think it was because I had enough common sense to not do those things to my gear.

That's all, I am commenting more on the behavior not so much on the person, although they are somewhat related.

I've had my say............so carry on

    BFD Bud! I've blown some shi7 up....

What is your point Brock? I am a rather patient guy. I have 3 kids..I have to be. You got under my skin once already so I learned and it wont happen again. There is one thing I don't understand about you though that might clear things up for me and better understand why you think it is acceptable or even descent to respond to my posts the way you do.

What makes me smoking a few components so offensive to you that you feel the need to follow me around, call me names and waste other peoples time TTT'ing a thread for some up the butt comment like you've made. Do you automatically assume you are the only one capable of deciding a pattern exists, if it does, and by that feeling compelled to show the world due to the fact the rest are too stupid to see it for themselves?

I find it mildly ironic (actually I would call it Little Mans Syndrome though it is not reserved for men. I know a woman or two that purposely points out others faults or failure to do no more than draw attention from their own) that you would follow a Thank You post with such blatant lack of internet etiquette and civility. I am not without a sense of jocularity though and am actually having a hard time keeping a straight face as I respond because it would seem a response is exactly what you are after and I have again been caught in a fools mate.

We went through the same motions with the Parting of the Red Sea...I mean....1C's. The outcome will be the same and my response is the same. They are mine and I will do with them what I wish.

I might suggest along the way not to go into the financial matters of the fact as I feel you might be stepping in your own poo.(Just a kind suggestion based on your livid reaction to a :rolleyes:50 dollar tweeter....)

How about this idea since it seams like you want to run someone in the dirt for "abusing" THEIR own equipment....How about you call Mercedes and tell them to stop treating their cars the way they do. They don't really need to know how much it will take and it's pointless to keep runnin them into the wall like that.

Or, how about giving Komatsu a call and tell them to stop putting 200 tons of dirt in a 150 ton dump truck . You know they only do that to be sure it will perform beyond the users (or spectators...i.e. potential clients) expectations on trial day...

I have kindly and curtly outlined a few suggestions on how you can get over this seemingly obsessive problem you have with me and how I treat MY gear. If none of these suit you I guess you could always go .... yourself.

All the best and Happy New Year, Brock

    Regards, Dan
