A new bill has been introduced in Congress that, if passed, would strip Americans of their citizenship for just supporting hostilities against the United States.

If that were to be the case, throwing everyone in jail who supported hostilities towards us, the whole democratic party with some republicans tossed in to boot would be in jail.

You could also blame a teapartier for some heinous act, then label the entire group a terrorist organization... looks like a great way to conveniantly dispose of anyone that they deem a threat. They already have all the aparatus in place to make their move.


This will not end well. The vision of the Weather Underground is close at hand... They are all good friends of the current administration. Take a look at their written plans and compare them to what is happening now... Google the Weather Underground and seek answers for yourself. Cass Sundstein, Valerie Jarrett and that pillar of society, Bill Ayres, and those of their ilk are in firm control now. Take a look at what is happening in the streets all around the globe and tell me that this is all coincidence.

I received an email from my local representative saying she doesn't support the sopa bill as it is, but wants a happy medium for protecting intellectual rights at the same time as not policing the internet. Perfect election words, but we haven't seen the end of this effort.

The Beatles were considered a threat to America and the war but they were foreign. The Grateful dead would have been locked up for life under these rules were they to have existed during the Vietnam conflict. Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young would still be in Cuba.

Sopa, PIPA, how about the ndaa. Yeah Obama committed treason and took away our bill of rights but who cares as long as you have internet. Hope no one thinks you're a terrorist. Yeah, yeah I know..but this throws due process out the window.

a friend of mine who is a boat captain now used to be a important but low profile attorney who was part of the CHAOS of the sixties. They broke a lot of laws, but if they did now what they did then, they wouldn't be breaking as many laws. The Government will do what it can in it's own best interest. Laws only hamper or enhance this ability.

Ya know, I've been pondering this issue as well. With all the illegal moves he's made, with some you could even consider treasonish, why has nobody taken this up ? No legal challenges ? This only tells me one thing, that both sides are in it, maybe not everyone on both sides, but enough to escape the courts. It is critical to understand that the communist/socialist extreme elements from the 1960's... THEY ARE the government today, and they are grabbing as much power as they can to silence their opposition. These laws that would have been applied to them 40 years ago will now be used against those that believe in the Founder's vision of our country. Basically, if you cling to your God and guns, they are after you now.

We're not talking about some new mode of communication replacing the Internet whereas cars actually replaced horse drawn buggies. Cars were REAL and the buggy whip folks were able to enter that industry. I absolutely don't get where you are coming from with this.

This is a case of a government, supposedly with limited powers to PROTECT us, intruding and putting people in jail and out of work.

There are already dozens of laws on the books "protecting" intellectual property, but most are unnecessary if you simply read the constiutution which by itself provides for these basic protections.

Think before you post a "buggy whip" analogy which make no sense in this situation.

These bills are only being postponed, not killed, so keep calling and writing your Senators and Congressmen until they are officially DEAD.

Elvis is King! That wasn't a smack down, it was just a point, "no one is safe" from a regime that points a finger at someone saying they are the enemy then removed of their citizenship and hauled off without a trial. The FBI was not to keen on Mr. Presley at all.

I, on the other hand, think he was great. I have over 100 vinyl original albums of Elvis and would never do a smack down.

I'm not normally politically active, but I will defend my rights with gun and God if I have to. The Patriot act and SOPA are both against the very reason the Constitution was written. We are supposed to be a free people. For some of the threads here this forum would be shut down. After SOPA the moderator might have to shut this forum down for people like me.

Very interesting about the government now and who was around back in the 60's. The head of Iran is thought to have been one of the hostage takers.

I'm actually very independent politically, but don't tread on my rights or I will say and do what I need to do in order to be an American, Free!

Yeah, except I divested myself of all of my brick and mortar infrastructure between 1999 and 2002.

When I became sure the Internet was a viable means to conduct commerce. I then leased space between 2002 and 2005 until I proved I could work 100% from home.

I've worked exclusively from home for 7 years now, outsourcing all of the infrastructure I can't provide from my home location.

If any one of my 70+ sites was closed down, I would suffer. If 7 of them (10%) were affected I would no longer be profitable and be unable to feed my family.

If I can no longer work from home, I'm not sure where I or where the jobs will be, but without a free Internet they probably won't be in the US.

ha ha, not ruffled at all! In my job it takes a lot to ruffle my feathers. Basically as long as everyone is alive all is well.

Just wanted to point out it wasn't an Elvis slam. It wasn't an anything slam. As far as politics go, I don't trust any politician and I don't react to mass hysteria, or group think. The founders of the Constitution didn't trust each other either which is why they wrote it, and had so many drafts and took such a long time. Testing the Constitution in practice began immediately.

A friend just sent me this link, maybe this is the real reason for SOPA. On Wikipedia you can ammend the information but someone can take it down if it bucks the system, for a good reason of course.

These are excerpts supposedly from Wikipedia changes before being taken down. My guess is that they are screenshots of someone ammending the page but not able to publish it. I'ts pretty funny, but has some profanity in the verbage. I don't have speakers on my work computer so I can't tell if they cursed out loud.
