Take all fingers, evenly around the dust cap, and gently press down, not to far and see if you hear any rubbing. Report back.

It also could be the amp. Call Ken at CS.

If you heard a noise when you pressed down on it, like a rubbing. That means you blew the voice coil. However, if the green light dosn't come on, that means no power is going to the subwoofer. Which means you might need a new woofer and an amp. Power surge maybe?

    Call Ken at CS.

Well, if it dosn't turn on. Your sub makes noise when you press it in. It makes no sound. I would say so. Call Ken and ask him about replacement parts for it. Did you buy it from an authorized dealer (crutchfield, circuit city, etc)?

Hmm, Call Ken or E-Mail him. I'm sure if you search threads he has replied to you can get his E-Mail or phone number. I don't know it, it is also in the contact section on the main page. He is the only one that can help you now! Good luck!

    ryan,

Welcome... sorry to hear of your sub's apparent demise.

You did not say whether the original fuse was blown or not... was it? I'll guess not, since you got nothing when you put the new one in. If the old one had blown, you should have at least gotten the light to flash on as the replecement blew.

As Sid is urging you, chat with Ken, but does sound like your sub is dead. If you dropped the Voice Coil, it's probably shorted out, keeping the sub's amp in a protection mode and from turning on (I'm guessing here assuming the fuse is OK).

Also call CC, they should be able to pull up your records and see if you are stilll in waranty...

Please post anything more you learn so we can learn, too.
    More later,
    Tour...

Today I heard that same rubbing noise on one of my RTI38's :( blown coil. Do these coils fail on their own or would it be something that I have done?

Spoke to the dealer I bought them from and sounds like the are going to fix it under warranty which is great. If for some reason they can't fix them they said they would give me the newer model on the market which I assume are the RTI6 anyway, I blew a coil too and it sucks.

Would Polk replace the coil for free minus the shipping? Just curious

I just think if you have a speaker under warranty, and a dealer, why call Polk CS direct? We all know Ken has done wonderful things, but to ALWAYS suggest everyone "call Ken" is not the proper thing to do. I mean what if every single person who bought Polk speakers called Ken, poor guy would never be able to go home. Just my thoughts.
