brown fluid on back of tweeter

I bought some rt25i's on ebay that got damaged during shipping. Although they were packed woefully inadequately, it also appears that ups dropped the box hard enough to break the magnet assembly off the woofer. I opened the speaker to look for internal damage and to remove the damaged woofer. When I got to the tweeter, the back of it was covered in a brown oily fluid. I searched around and it looks like this might be ferromagnetic fluid? Anyway, is it a sign that the tweeter is on its way out? do the dynamic balance tweeters have an approximate lifefime? This one is from 2000. Thanks for any info.

If the tweeter lost all of the ferro fluid in its motor structure it may work... for now - but eventually it will heat up and die...

The RT series is easily a 20 year + speaker line, IMO!

nah, tweeter is shot too. magnet separated from the front. Are the drivers in an rt15i the same as rt25i? I seem to see rt15i's on craigslist all the time. Could I strip one for its drivers and pop them into the 25 case. The 25 case got banged up, but is still functional.

    No.

    The 15 uses a 3/4 soft dome
