You guys are a$$%^les. Just 'cause you don't know/like him doesn't mean you should be an **** about his death.

Heavy D was a legend in the hip hop world and extremely influential behind the microphone or the mixing table. He had a tremendous talent for writing music/lyrics and producing albums. His name is on alot of stuff in hip hop and lots of other genres that you all listen to from heavy metal to jazz.

World is a little less bright without Heavy D and his perpetually upbeat and optimistic work.

Godspeed Dwight Meyers, saw your first live performance in 15 years not a month ago and was really looking forward to you new album due out next spring. Miss you already.

Well I for one, was not being an ****. I actually did Google his name. It is tragic anytime someone passes away. What heavy metal was he associated with?

I'm gonna be sincere! Too bad he passed at such a young age. On the other hand, to say that the world is a little less bright due to him passing is poppycock unless you were close to him or just can't live without his influence in your life. I really don't know many Rap artist that have a positive message in their music and present a good role model for any kids of any color.

As for rappers with positive messages, Heavy D was one of them.

Is it proper grammar to use the words "rap" and "positive" in the same sentence?

It is sad to see anyone go that young. But after seeing those videos, I'm not sure where all this talk of talent is coming from, seems like average rap to me.

I still don't care!! Is there some reason I should? It's not like I am going to miss him or anything. Is this lighthearted enough??

I like older rap music but he never did it for me music wise. On a serious note it sucks to see anyone pass at a young age and I hope his family and friends join together at this time.

No one really cares that you dont care, your oppinion isnt worth anymore or less than anyone elses. If you dont care why bother posting you dont? other than to attempt to show his life and work isnt important to you personally and that he is insignificant compared to you. And that we should give a crap what you think? Like he has less than value than whoever it is that you look up too or admire. It was a disrespectful thing to say period!! There are lots of people out there I dont particularly appreciate the work of, if so I simply move on if I have nothing positive to add.

Trust me on this when you go less people will know or care than do now about this fellow.

    REGARDS SNOW
Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

Wow this thread is pretty non-lighthearted. Interesting how one man's death that no one here knew personally has us speaking to each other this way. We can disagree, but to what extent do we insult each other? I guess use this opportunity to "get it out". Club Polk, remember? Polkies. That's us.

But when a big fat person I do see
I jump up and say "What up Heavy D!"
    I mean no disrespect

This is just me being me

Gone far too young...............Agreed some of the comments are just sad. Regardless of who or what a person does for a career, show some sort of respect. Life is too short to not give a fu*k in some sort of way.

A 73 year old friend told me about Heavy D dieing and I said who? He then informed me he was a class act like some of you have stated and he too thought the music world will miss his input.

I'd like to repeat the rap that rromeo923 wrote. Very well said from us who didn't know of him.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.
