POLK SDA SRS 2.3 Broken binder post

Just got a brand new (for me) pair of SDA SRS 2.3's. Got home to find one of the binder posts broken off at the point where the speaker wire feeds through it. I have just enough thread left to screw on the jumper clips. My temporary fix was to move the speakers wires to the top binder posts. Three questions:

1) Will attaching the speaker wires to the top (high end) binding posts instead of the lower posts affect sound or performance in any way? My "gut" answer is no since the posts are jumpered together anyway.

2) Where to I find replacement binder posts to make a permanent fix to this issue?

3) Assuming I find replacement binder posts, how does one get off all the glue?/plastic that has been "melted" over the entire interior of the speaker connection box. I suppose I could just take a Dremel tool to the spot that needs fixing but that seems absolutely barbaric to do this. May be my only option though.

Thanks in advance for Club Polk help community.

I'll try and post a picture although I'll have to charge my camera first. :( It's a pretty familiar set up...two sets of twin posts on the exterior tray with a jumper wire run between the top and bottom sets. I have a pair of Klipsch RF-35's that have the similar jumper setup. It's just when I got inside the tray that I saw all that hot glue and started hyperventilating. I found an earlier post that suggested the BPGS-25G posts from Parts Express.

Just want to make sure before I start cutting through the hard glue that I won't damage anything underneath the glue. I don't see anything that looks like a crossover in there, just four wires emerging from the gluey gunk.

I am very familiar with the binding posts and Binding post cup, But I would like to see if the cup is broken or can we just replace the old binding post as I have extras and would even be willing to fix it for you if need be..

The crossover is not mounted to the binding post cup if you pull the passive you can just unplug the wires from the crossover and pull the whole binding post cup out..

BTW you won't hurt anything pulling up the hot glue just take your time, when your done repairing the post just put more hot glue down.

If you need a set of original binding posts I will send you a set, but if you want to upgrade them by all means do..

Have not yet fixed it. Only started this thread Sunday. I might check out the local Best Buy to see if they have binding posts or else, wait a couple of days from Amazon.com.

Best Buy does not sell electronic parts. Try Sonic Craft or if you want cheap ones, Parts Express.
