Will Never Buy Another Samsung Product

I am following thru on my commitment to SAMSUNG that I would make everyone I know and can reach out to and inform them that SAMSUNG has a huge problem with their LCDs overtime make a clicking sound before turning on and that I will never buy another Samsung product. If you search Samsung LCD clicking there are 1.8 million hits. THe problem is under rated caps on the power supply board. $3 fix if you do it yourself and is quiet easy to do but that is not the point. I escalated up 3 levels as far I could go giving Samsung a chance to resolve my issue. TV will be 3 years old in January and is a bedroom TV so usage is low. You have been warned.

I thought I was buying a quality product in Samsung and I never buy extended warranties and no plans to do so in the future.
I will replace the caps tomorrow for $3.
I gave them a chance to do something for me but nothing.
Screw Samsung.
They used 10v caps where 12v min should have been used.
Their fridges are getting similar negative customer experience.Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)

I've always avoided Samsung.....my wife has one of their low end cell phones that works OK. IMO they have 10 times too many models of everything they make.
-
They make some awesome mobile phones but I too, will never buy a Sammy TV or display unit. Quality FTL.

Samsung Galaxy is one of my mobile phones I use in Japan. I'm still not sold on much else they make, despite reviews. I stick with Panasonic, JVC, etc. I've heard they even make great projectors, along with TV's. Glad you got your issue fixed on your own. The question is what happens to those non tech savvy customers who are clueless? Would love to get my hands on one just thrown in the trash.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

I have an older 20 inch Sammy in my bedroom that I have no problems with, but my first choice is Sony for TV's. As an old repairman in the 80's and 90's, they had relatively few issues. I have a 32 inch and a 20 inch CRT models, and other than being a bit smallish for my new HT setup, have great picture quality and dependability. The new flat screens, no clue, but I believe Sony, yet overpriced, is most likely still the product of choice. Sorry to hear of your misfortunes. It definitely will help me lean towards Sony and omit Samsung from my other as a good set. When we pay off one more credit card, we will be getting a mac daddy at least 55 incher.Onkyo TX-NR636

I had this issue on a, just over 2 year, old 40" Samsung. Called them, and they sent a tech out for a free repair.
C/S rep admitted to the issue and resolved it. no trouble from them. -

Timely thread. I just placed an order with Digikey to replace capacitors in my 32" LCD yesterday. I'm hoping this will fix my issue (no picture). My caps weren't as obviously bad as some I've seen online--one has (black apparent leakage) on top, but none are swollen or splitting.
It's pretty obvious that this is an issue of "value engineering" and/or planned obsolescence. I'm just hopeful my fix works.Jay

do the caps determine video colors?
we have a 26" toshiba that half the screen is yellow. not solid yellow just like a yellow filter over the screen.

My Polk PSW202 was one of the many that had the underrated caps in the amplifier.
I still buy Polk products.

I don't see where anyone is telling anyone else not to buy Samsung, only that they will not be buying it again. If you like it, God Bless! (and good luck)

What turned me off with Samsung is I had the exact problem as the LCDs they covered, obviously I was an outlier and to be honest I would have been happy if they said you are an outlier and I can't fix your issue under warrenty but what I can do is "___" insert token like a $5 starbucks card.
But they did not listen or care if they lost a customer for life. To be honest, the higher the escalation took me the ruder the people where.
I was just following thru on what I told Samsung I would do and that was to share my story. I hope everyone's expereince with Samsung is good but mine was not.

Since this problem seems to be of reoccurrence with this specific product, it is sad they didn't have the decency to recall the poorly engineered product despite the expired warranty. Legally there is a minimum lifespan for a product despite the short 1 or 2 years warranties. Very unfortunate North America Governments do not put better consumer protection in place for high priced items especially with pi$$ poor quality China manufacturing that crosses North American borders nowadays.DARE TO SOAR:

My 2008 Model LN32330 developed the problem on Sunday - took it to a repair shop on Monday - fixed on the spot while I waited. 2 caps - Samsung billed. Called Samsung hot line on Sunday and they gave me the information to have it fixed under warranty - 1 time.[

My first Blu-ray players was a Samsung, but my latest is a Sony. Samsung doesn't seem to keep up on their firmware updates like other companies, and I had weird errors that I've never experienced since with the Sony. I don't have experience with a lot of their products, but I'm marking Bru-Ray players off the list.
