RTi A7 plus Csi A6 with Pioneer vsx-1020k
Hi Guys:
Wondering if Pioneer 1020K would be sufficient to drive these speakers RTi A7/CsiA6. Thanks

Hi Hannzz - welcome to Club Polk!
I think one of the Pioneer SC series receivers would give you a better experience with those speakers, as it has better amps (ICE / Class D amps). Alternately, if you're budget constrained right now, go with a VSX model that has pre-outs, so you can maybe get an amp to sufficiently power at least the A7s in the future. Then you'll hear what those speakers are capable of.
But I believe that people have been finding Pioneer Elite SC receivers new / used at good prices lately.
The Rti A7s sound their best (dynamics, bass response) with lots of high current power. The 1020 will run them and the CSi a6, but just don't crazy with the volume.ALL BOXED UP for a while until I save up for a new place

Thanks for your comment. I can return pioneer 1020 back since I have 30 days return policy with best buy. How about Onkyo nr809. Later when I will more $$ can buy external amp. Thanks

That is a pretty good avr. I have last years model. TX-NR808. It ran my RTI A7's really well. I believe the TX-NR709 or NR708 has pre outs as well, but you might check on that. The newer 9's have a wirelss usb adaptor for networking features where as the 8's have only a CAT 5.
The 808 or 809 has a remote that can be programed by searching for exact make and model for different componets. No trying out different codes to see what works and what doesnt.
I would recomend the 809. I would by one all over again.
Where are you going to get the 809 from. You can get a referb from accessories 4 less for a pretty good price.
809 for $680
808 for $499
709 for $499
You can add on a 5 year warrenty for around 50 bucks.

+1 on that suggestion as well. Onkyos and Yamahas tend to offer pre-outs a lower price point than Denon and Pioneers.
If you can find an Onkyo 708, that might be even cheaper and it supports 3D if you need it and has pre-outs.ALL BOXED UP for a while until I save up for a new place

708 is $361 from accessories for less. But I still think I would rather have the 808 or 809. They at least have a push pull (AB i believe) amplifier design. Onkyo doesnt show the 709 as having that. I dont know why onkyo doesnt show the 709 as having one. I though a AB was a typical amplifer design.
They do show the older 708 has having a push pull design. I don't know why the newer 709 doesnt show having that. But then again the newer 9's have 4K upscaling.
The newer 9's are also supose to have 12v trigers where the older 8's only have a 12 volt triger for the zone 2. They also have MultiEq XT vs. the older 8's have MultiEq.
The more I read about it the more I think I would want the newer 809AVR: Onkyo Tx-NR808

I don't know about the 1020 but the 1021 only puts out 46 WPC in 5.1 mode. I would be very careful trying to drive RTI A7's with that receiver. -
I would get the 1120 at least. It has pre amp outputs so if you decide to add an amplifier you do not have to buy a brand new receiver.

I decided to go with Onkyo 809. Currently, looking for a sale.

Welcome to Club Polk!
Onkyos are nice units, I run one myself. But be 'careful' about the heat over the HDMI boards. Give them 'a lot' of breathing space above and maybe even consider a small 'cooling' fan!
Enjoy!

I'm sure you will like the RTi A7's and CSi A6 with the Onkyo. Cnh is correct about heat and Onkyo. There have been recalls and people upset about reliability.
If your AVR works well, I think you will be happy enough not to run out and get a amp right of the back. However, a amp is prefered for RTi A7's.Fronts: Polk RTi A9

Wasn't it the older TX-NRxx5's that had the HDMI board issues. I know the TX-NRxx8's have had issues with a bad ribbon cable causing the front pannel / remote control to be come non responsive, or randomly changings things.
I had this happen to me. Onkyo took care of it though. They sent me a shipping box, and packing along with a pre paid lable. They will take care of the problem regardless of warrenty status. That being said I would still buy another Onkyo.AVR: Onkyo Tx-NR808

Find a used Pioneer Elite SC model. Any one will do. This will drive them much better then all receivers listed above. You will experience them wonderfully with the SC at the helm.
This is a perfect match.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time.
