That's amusing, but I think the U.S. should be 'bigger'. 50 percent? Come on?

If you're number One you should at least take up as much space as the world's oceans! No?

I always thought I was pretty good at geography, but what is the little island 'more evil-doers' off the coast of China? And why are they evil?

You need to get out of NE Ohio more often. We Americans generally have a very narrow view of the world. Aren't multi-lingual, most haven't spent a day of their lives in a foreign country. In short, aren't sophisticated.

Yourself, ever been to a foreign country, other than maybe Michigan?

Or, maybe a better approach would be to encourage him to do something about it. In other words, stop griping about it on a message board and actually put forth the effort to make a difference.

I don't dislike this country, but I also realize that this country is headed in the wrong direction. This country needs some pretty drastic changes if we want it to survive and continue to be a great country to live in. However, I rarely make posts regarding politics because I find that there are much better ways to focus my energy on that front.

And, to stay on topic, I actually find the picture quite amusing. But then, it was clearly meant in that manner, so I see no reason to take it so seriously.

Americans are not unusual in this respect. I think most people in other countries think that their own country (coincidentally) has a important, if not central, role in the world in terms of culture, influence, morality etc.

Talk with, or visit, Canadians, Japanese, Germans, French, Italians, Swiss, Chinese etc. They can usually tell you why they are better than other countries, and specifically the arrogant Americans.

Ask people in those countries to draw a picture of what the world looks like. It will look much like the "American" map with the roles and relative sizes reversed.

Even dysfunctional basket case countries like Cuba, North Korea, Iran etc. think they have a central role in the world and that the rest of the world is jealous of them and their accomplishments.

The difference is that America allows and produces the most freedom, the most opportunity, the most innovation of all.

People who were lucky enough to be born here often take it for granted and try to make themselves feel superior to the "average American" by trashing their own country. Most of them wouldn't last a day in paradises like Cuba, North Korea, Iran etc. And those countries would find them to be as useless as they are here.

You state distainfully that Americans aren't "In short, sophisticated", How "sophisticated" can you be if you haven't even figured out why America is great?
