Pioneer Elite SC-35, SC-37 or SC-55??

I'm currently looking to buy a new receiver and I think it is between the SC-35, SC-37 or the SC-55. What are the main differences between the 3? Is it worth it to spend the extra money for the 37 or 55 instead of the 35?

Get the one you can afford. The 55 has some type of new amps while the 35/37 use the B&O Icemodules. From the reviews both amp designs are good.

The 35's and 37's sound the same .I think the only diff is slightly more power and if you want multiple zones playing music in the 7's .Who cares for receivers playing music anyways ? they only sound good for background ambiance. I too wonder how the 55's will stack up against the ice modules .If I was too guess I would think pioneer is just trying to save cash and bullshitting consumers that these noew amps sound better . Time will tell as professional reviews and tests are performed

when i was shopping for my SC-35, i compared a few AVRs....SC-07/35/37/55.

to me the 07/35/37 sounded better than the 55

From what I understand, they're both class D amps. Though I haven't heard the 07 / 37, the few weeks I was running my RTi A speakers directly off of the SC-57, it did a commendable job. It kind of sits midway between a conventional AVR (Onkyo, Denon) and full on external amps in terms of punch - and I'm talking all speakers at the same time. I felt for music it was a little bright - as opposed to say Parasound or NAD amps I've heard - but otherwise, dynamic range is insane and it had no trouble with 5.1 content. Network features, MCACC advanced, windows utilities, remote app, Airplay, etc work as advertised. No real issues thus far.

I've done a side by side Compare with the SC-07 and the SC-55. They really don't sound any different. It was extremely difficult to pick out differences.
From the SC-0x series to the SC-5X series , just review features and get the one that suites your needs. They are all fantastic.

While just your opinion, and therefore has zero weight, that is just bizarre. Anyone so hung up on sound they cannot enjoy music on a decent HT setup is in the wrong hobby. I use mine for music with multi-channel SACD, and whenever the neighbors in the front are making so much noise it interferes with my two-channel system. While not as good as the two-channel, it certainly is good enough for more than background ambiance. Once I upgrade my two channel speakers, and move the originals into the HT as fronts, it will be even better for music, and HT.

I have the 37, and I love it. If you can get your hands on a 35 go for it. I wouldnt drop the money on a 55 right now, thats my opinion. You can get a 35 new/used for under 800, while the 55 is somewhere around 2k? And really, your not getting anything that the 35/37 cant do.
