Since the engergy dept is handing out "our money" to companies like Solyndra (500 million) and passed out another 3 Billion in the last month to other "solar" companies, I'm sure it's just a matter of time that these companies start repaying the American Taxpayer by offering Very inexpensive solar panels to us since we paid for them already.

    GO GREEN

My best friend is an industrial engineer with one of the largest solar panel manufacturers in the world. He travels from Singapore to Madrid to Hong Kong to Australia, etc. He has stated to me numerous times that it is not yet cost effective or efficient to have residential solar panel use for primary electricity, etc. If it is supplementary it can be effective and save some money.

I was at the Maryland Home and Garden Show last weekend and saw roughly 6 companies selling solar panel installations. My house would be perfect for an installation. The back part of my roof gets hit with direct sun from sunrise to about 4pm. The front part starts getting hit around noon then full on till about 30 minutes to sunset. No trees, no nothing blocking it. I've been thinking about it, but it's not in the budget yet. Maybe another year and i'll think more serious and see where the technology and cost has progressed.

It's definitely a promising technology though!
    No excuses!

Ok so I have been using these for rougly 2 months give or take. Some things I can say: they definitely keep the house a few degrees cooler, the monitor system is very nice since it gives me the ability to see what the panels are producing on my plasma display. Some things I had them do was spray the frame work with anti-rust spray to prevent corrosion. I'm sure most of you would like to know if it has decreased my monthly bill and I can surely say it has by a significant amount. I just got my bill and it was only 1800 yen. So I've gone from an average bill of $350.00 -$400.00 to roughly $25.00. I would definitely do it all over again. My summer bill peaks around $700.00 with this heat out here so I'm looking forward to seeing how they produce around that time.

    Glad I went green.....................
