That ad has been posted here before, not worth $850 IMO they are in need of some TLC and need to get into the hands of someone that could bring them back to life!! or someone that could pick them up for around $400 for parts!!

Agreed, I paid about that much for mine and they appear to be in about the same shape (thought mine had ratty black grill clothe, not ugly white). I put a TON of work and $ into them. In the end, were they worth what I have in them compared to what I could buy in new speakers with the same amount, absolutely. But have to agree with TFLF, the $400-$500 range is more realistic.

SDA-SRS in poor aesthetic condition are only worth $400--$500? Tough crowd here...

Those would not be my first choice...but...that seems low to me. I figured ~$850 was not unreasonable; and $700 would be a deal if all the drivers were correct and functional.

    Guess I was wrong.

my guess was 800 was a good price for a fully functioning fully original pair with the original interconnect cable.

is the cosmetic condition worth 50% ?

whats a good price for a pair in mint condish?

It really depends on ypur abilities and desire to work on them. I personally wanted mine to look new. They needed new end caps, so I had all 4 of these and the side pieces remade and stained to match to match the furniture in the room ($280). Had to replace the grille clothe, and again, had this done by an upholstry shop with clothe I bought. Probably could have done it, bit preferred to know it would be done right. Material was like $40, labor about $300, which is probably a bit much, but for all 6 panels, I lived with it, and they look new.

If any drivers are bad, that can add up fast. Again, wanting mine to look new, I ordered 7 new drivers sincw they had dented cones. The ones here don't appear to have that issue.

Last but not least, I replaced all of the hardware on the drivers/crossovers. Ordered new bolts becaise some had rust on the caps. Not a big expense, but like $20 with shipping.

Also want to consider if they have the feet that screw into the bottom. Again, not a big cost and likely you would want to spike them anyway, but in a pinch the feet will work.

If you the drivers/tweets/radiators are all good, and especially if you can do any work they need ypurself, that price may be fine, but if you plan to bring them back to perfect condllition and habe to pay to have it done, you might be better waiting on a pair in excellent shape and paying more to get them.

it sounds like i would want to do all of the things you said as well....what would you pay or a perfect pair though?

Me personally, for a set in excellent cosmetic condition, with fully functional drivers, I think the $1500 range would by my ballpark.

I have seen nice sets priced at this level, but they were not in my area (one reason I purchased the lesser condition set at the price I did).

Yep, just not what I am looking for but someone that is and close by should think seriously. If anyone wants to see the pics I received PM me your email address.

I agree upgrading crossover, rings, spike and tweets would be great but I think you could go slow and enjoy them as you made that journey.

Definitely!!! if someone was looking for a bunch of spare parts $500 is a steal!! I would buy them just for that alone if I was close enough..

TFLF, do you know if the SRS cabinet is the same as the 1.2TL?

Everything is the same on the exterior of SRS/1.2/1.2tl the only difference is each one has different internal bracing. I should also note if I recall right? that the original SRS wood caps were a solid wood and they would split now and then

Yes,the end caps are solid wood, and the do split. It almost looks like one end cap is gone on the CL posting.

The OP should jump on these.

If they are still there next weekend I may have to grab them just to flip them. Recover, test, make a cable and clean up. I bet there would be a profit. ANd if the sound was good enough in what is a probably too small room I might keep them.
