I was thinking about picking up a set of Miles Davis Tribute in ear headphones. They are on sale at a local store (Visions Electronics) for $98.00. The original price was $498.00.

Does anyone have a set of these earphones? The reviews are pretty good.

I want them for when I travel. I do a lot of flying and the flights are usually 4-5 hours. I need a good set.

Just an FYI over the ear/noise cancelling head phones work much better...I have tried buds on a plane and although you don't really notice it until you try listening to music or watch a movie....the damn engine noise takes over....just my .02

    cheers

I cannot imagine that in ear headphones could be worth $500.00, or even $100.00 for that matter. That said, I have not heard them so I cannot comment on the actual quality. I just cannot imagine they can be worth that much because of the style of headphone they are. In ear headphones will never be as good as over the ear style headphones. Therefore, I don't think they can be worth that much. I would argue that they cost as much as they do:

    1) because they have Miles Davis' name on them
    2) they are made by Monster

    Enough said.

"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Well, I think I will get them anyway and give them a try.

Any recommendations for a set for flying? Either in ear or over ear.

    Thanks...

I have the Klipsch X10i which works great for traveling. They are not active noise cancelling, but they are ear-plug style which does block out a majority of the noise around you. I can sleep with them anywhere, the iPhone controls are nice, and the sound quality is great.

you'd probably do better asking thoughts about these on Head-fi.org. those guys are really into their iems and quite a few have no problem dropping $500 on a good pair.. that said.. while it is made by monster the miles davis IEMS get great reviews even from head audiophiles.

Really good set of headphones and they work well on the plane as long as your using the correct tips. I use mine with a Ray Samuels heaphone amp and they are really nice plus they have a good warranty. I had the Klipsch custom 3 and these far exceed those the klipsch where good but these are that much better.

My experience with M'ter products has shown them to be of very decent quality. My only issue is that they seem expensive for what they are. However, if you can find a deal, such as you have, they should be great.

I was skeptical about in ear headphones and tried a pair of Denon AH-C751 (mainly because I found a great deal) and have been very impressed. I replaced the silicone tips with Comply T-400 memory foam tips and am even more impressed.
