Looking for good receiver for Polk Mon 70's

Hello,

I have a pair of Monitor 70's (Series II) and a PSW10 and am trying to find out what kind of receiver would be a good match for these speakers in a 2.1 configuration. I'm particularly concerned about getting enough power for these speakers and having good specs to drive them as well as possible without damaging them.

When looking at Receiver specs I see a lot of confusing info such as two sets of numbers for say "Front L/R" ratings", one will be say 80W+80W at 8 ohms and another at 110W+110W for 6 ohms at a different Khz rating. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what this means, but am trying to get an idea of what to look for and what to avoid

Also are there any particular features to look out for with regard to the Subwoofer connection on a receiver?

Any suggestions or tips, links etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Do you plan on going with a full theater down the road? If so then look no further then Pioneer Elite VSX52 or VSX53. These receivers will power your monitor series speakers beautifully . Not to mention have the latest in technology and coolest things like Airplay and 3D.
Even if 2.1 is all your going to use , this receiver sounds sweet for music and has plenty of dynamic range to make those Monitors sing.

thanks Mantis, that's a little more than what I wanted to spend, sorry should have mentioned that (would like to kee below $500 if poss). Yeah, sound quality is more important that home theater stuff right now, mainly looking for just a good music listening experience, not too interested in hooking up to Blu-Ray or TV at this point but would consider in the future.

What would be a min power rating that would be OK to use with these speakers?.

Not a bad choice. HK's have notoriously had some of the beefiest internal amps too, so you'll be more than good on power
