Effects of CD/DVD Skips on Speakers

Hi,
I have a pair of RTiA1 bookshelves and a PSW111 sub on my 50W/channel Onkyo stereo receiver. I usually listen at less than mid volume setting.
I frequently borrow CD's and DVD's and play them on my setup. Sometimes they are in a less than ideal condition and I get skips due to the discs scratches/errors.
Could these skips damage my speakers?
TIA for your replies.

The only way damage could occur is if you insert a cracked CD and the cracked piece of it caught the lens or damage the insides of your player. Since you've mentioned you just play in a mid level volume, I think it won't do any harm with your speakers I suggest that you try to use dics cleaners, if the discs you load are dirty, that could also cause skipping.
