I am looking to buy, or build a new TV console and was wondering if my CSi5 will work properly in the center channel shelf since it is rear ported? Would I need to need to cut out the rear panel of the shelf if it has one? Or, is it better to set it on top of the console? Thanks.

I like Center channels free standing , they always seem to perform their best. But inside a cabinet if there is proper room , no 1t order reflections and the back is open , you can put it in there with no performance loss. It looks much better inside a cabinet for a clean look.
Just make sure it's not to low , try to get it at hear height about 42 inches to the tweeter or angle it up so where your seating location is , the tweeter fires directly at it.

Thanks for the info mantis. I think that I will be building one because I can't seem to find what I want. Time to pull out the wood working tools.
