Hello all,

I'm new to the forum but have been a long time Polkee. I just got a great deal on a pair of RTi100s ($360 for the pair if you wanted to know). I want to Bi-wire them. I have contacted Polk CS but they told me it can not be done. However, thru other threats it seems that some old timers have been bi-wiring RT1000's for years. Can you let me in on the secret.

Thank you

My current system

Fronts - RTi100
Center - CS400i
Surrounds - Fx500i

    You cannot bi-wire them.

However, you can use a bi-wire cable, if you so desire. Some members have reported they prefer this hookup method (speaker level vs line level).

I understand that the upper posts go to both the mid-driver and tweeter. So obviously, you can't bi-wire those. The bottom posts goes to the sub. So in essense you are providing a separate speaker-level signal to the sub.

However, how does the internal cross over work. Does it separate the sub from the mid-tweet, or there's is no conection between the them at all. If there's no connection, it would mean that there's two separate boxes in this tower.

May be I'm answering my own question. So thank you for what ever advise or knoledge you may have.

I used to own them the rt1000p's and found the same results.Using a bi wire speaker cable worked the best. Those speakers sound great with Monstercable M1.4s bi wires.Thats if your into Monstercable. There are alot of other really good brands out there.

Look for something in the 150.00 to 250.00 range.I feel this is the area or level of speaker wire that would benefit them the most.Less is ok if of high quality and sounds good over whatever your using now.

    Go out and play......

WHY oh WHY cant they be biwired? if they have binding posts with removable jumpers that say 'speaker' and 'subwoofer' why cant they, I understand if you are using an RCA cable as the source for the subs then that makes sense but if not ????
It may not impact on the tweeter to mid crossover but will impact on the bass one would think.
