I just wanted to say that this is a horrible product....

You will have to go to extreme lengths to make this actually attach to your MDF panels and if you did not put any extra adhesive on the backing when you attached it - it has fallen off.

No Rez is about double the cost but I just had to remove some of it and I had to pry it off the MDF. It actually took a little bit of the MDF with it.

All I am getting at - spend a bit more and go for No Rez or BH5 or whatever... anything other than Sonic Barrier. Its a waste of time.

    I haven't had any problems with the adhesive on Sonic Barrier. I do agree that BH5 is a better product,and I have yet to try No Rez.

    Wow - I couldnt get it to stick with the Adhesive... pressed it as hard as I could and it literally falls right back off...

    I think I had ONE piece stick to the surface...

    In the past when I used it I just broke down and hot glued it in place (SM450)

    I absolutely LOVE No-Rez. Danny Ritchie is a mad man.

    A spray adhesive or silicone will help keep it in place.

    I thought these products dampen vibration by adhearing to the surface. So if your getting no adhesion then the product isnt working near as good as it should.

    To me if you have to buy a 10 dollar can of 3m adhesive spray you might as well spend 10 dollars more and get something awesome like No Rez... just saying...

    Did you dust out the cabinet first? I never had a problem with adhesion.

    My cabinets were quite dusty inside. I wiped my cabinets down first with a damp cloth, let it dry thoroughly and applied the Sonic Barrier. It is stuck.

    I've used Sonic Barrier in most of my speaker builds, and the results have been uniformly good.

    That said, you can't expect a pressure sensitive adhesive to work well on an unfinished or rough surface. Not sure what your MDF is like. In my builds I use plywood (usually Baltic Birch) and finish with polyurethane on ALL SURFACES, both interior end exterior. The pressure sensitive adhesive holds well, and should last for a good number of years--but not forever. Like Scotch Tape, the adhesive will deteriorate over time and fail.
